We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Muradyan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The decision to start BWC Event Design wasn’t just about launching a business—it was about following a calling. Diane and I spent years in high-level corporate roles, leading teams, managing large-scale projects, and navigating the fast-paced worlds of Accounting, Finance, and Marketing. While we thrived in those environments, something was always pulling us toward a more creative and meaningful path.

Design has always been at the heart of who we are. Long before BWC, Diane and I eagerly volunteered to plan and design every corporate event—from large company gatherings to intimate birthday celebrations for employees, executives, and their children. But our love for design extends far beyond events. We are passionate about interiors, aesthetics, and the way thoughtful design can transform any space, whether it’s for a celebration or everyday living.

At some point, we realized that this wasn’t just a passion; it was a vision worth building. We didn’t just want to plan events—we wanted to create immersive experiences that linger in memory. Whether it’s through florals, tablescapes, or the ambiance of a beautifully curated space, we believe in designing moments that engage the senses and tell a story.

With our backgrounds in leadership and project management, Diane and I knew we had the skills to turn this dream into reality. We understood that an event is more than just beauty—it’s a production with countless moving pieces, and bringing it all together seamlessly requires both creativity and precision.

BWC Event Design was born out of our desire to merge art with execution, beauty with strategy, and creativity with meticulous attention to detail. It was about building something that felt deeply personal, not just to us but to every client we serve. And that’s exactly what we’ve done—crafted a business where passion, purpose, and storytelling come together to create something unforgettable.

What should our readers know about your business?
BWC Event Design is the result of a shared vision and our collective passion for creativity, design, and creating memorable experiences. Diane and I both come from strong executive backgrounds—Diane with a career in Marketing and myself in Accounting and Finance. These roles have shaped us both in ways that have directly contributed to our success as event designers. Our business is rooted in our love for design, but also in the leadership and organizational skills we honed over the years in our executive positions.

What truly sets us apart is the personalized approach we take with every event. We don’t just design an event—we curate an experience. Every detail, from the visuals to the scents, the ambiance, the florals, and even the food and beverages, is carefully planned to evoke emotion and create lasting memories. Whether it’s a corporate gala or a family celebration, we design for all the senses, ensuring that the experience lingers long after the event is over.

We’re proud of how we’ve combined our different design sensibilities to create something special. Diane’s minimalist elegance and my love for dramatic, luxurious designs come together in a perfect balance, making BWC Event Design a unique creative force. Our clients trust us to not only bring their visions to life but also to elevate them in ways they never imagined.

Starting this business hasn’t been without its challenges, but those obstacles have only strengthened our resolve. Our corporate backgrounds gave us the ability to manage complex projects and lead teams effectively, but the transition to the event industry required us to learn new processes, navigate unpredictable challenges, and perfect our production skills. The key lesson we’ve learned along the way is that no detail is too small. The best events are born from careful planning, seamless execution, and a deep understanding of what will truly make the experience unforgettable.

What we want the world to know about BWC Event Design is that we are a team of experienced, passionate, and creative professionals who are dedicated to transforming every event into something extraordinary. We pride ourselves on crafting bespoke, sensory-driven designs that leave a lasting impression on our clients and their guests. We’re not just creating events—we’re creating moments that live on in the hearts and minds of everyone involved.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d start the week with a leisurely brunch at Sol Y Luna in Pasadena, where the vibrant atmosphere and delicious Latin-inspired menu set the perfect tone. Afterward, we’d explore the Arroyo Seco area, known for its scenic beauty, and take a stroll around the Norton Simon Museum to enjoy some art. For dinner, we’d head to Arroyo Chop House, a classic, upscale steakhouse in the area known for its top-notch service and cozy yet sophisticated ambiance.

A visit to CBS Studio Center would definitely be on the agenda for a trip down memory lane. I worked there for 12 years in the Accounting Department, so it would be fun to reminisce and revisit the place that played such a big part in shaping my career.

In Santa Monica, we’d spend the day relaxing with a walk along the beach, followed by lunch at Cafe Gratitude for some fresh, organic fare. Afterward, we’d unwind with drinks at The Bungalow, where the cozy European-style lounge provides the perfect setting for great conversation.

We’d also explore Silver Lake and Echo Park, stopping by Cliff’s Edge for drinks in its lush outdoor patio, followed by cocktails at Bar Flores. These spots give off a perfect, relaxed, European-inspired vibe.

On another day, we’d head to LALA’s in Studio City, where we’d enjoy the delicious Latin cuisine and lively atmosphere. It’s one of those places with great food and a welcoming vibe perfect for enjoying a casual, laid-back dinner.

For a mix of relaxation and sightseeing, we’d hike around Griffith Park for stunning city views and visit Griffith Observatory. Afterward, we’d grab lunch at The Ivy, known for its lush garden setting and chic, European-inspired menu.

To finish off the week, we’d enjoy dinner at Il Pastaio in Santa Monica. With its authentic Italian dishes and cozy atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed and flavorful end to a memorable week in LA.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’d like to dedicate our shoutout to a few incredibly important people who have shaped our journey.

First, Amy’s mom, Peggy, who has impeccable taste and has been a huge influence on her design sensibilities. Amy has learned so much from her, and her influence continues to be a guiding force in her work.

For Diane, her aunt, Elsie—lovingly referred to as “Coco Chanel”—has been an invaluable inspiration. Elsie’s timeless style and elegance have shaped Diane’s approach to design, and we can always feel her presence in the work Diane creates.

We also want to acknowledge each other. Together, we’ve built BWC Event Design, and our partnership is the foundation of everything we do. Diane and I push each other creatively, and our different styles complement each other in a way that makes our work unique.

These people—our families, each other, and the strong role models we’ve had—are the reason we’ve been able to create something so special. We are forever grateful for their influence and support.
