Meet Amy Powell: Life, Transformation & Happiness Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Powell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s your definition for success?
I believe there is no unified definition for success. Every individual gets to create, evaluate and celebrate their own unique version, and versions, of success throughout their life. That means a person’s success can’t be calculated by predetermined quotas. Rather, the feeling of success is self-empowered, based on each person’s inner values, individual goals and deep desires.
For me, I used to measure and compare my success against my peers. I believed that I would never be successful if I didn’t have what my peers had, and more—as many creative ideas, clients, material things, and as much money to spend. I was so busy “keeping up” that I lost sight of myself and my true, self-empowered success.
Now, after several years of self-taught mindset work, when I overcome a roadblock, accomplish a project or even when I completely trip and fall on my face (literally and figuratively), I ask myself: How do I feel right now? Were my values honored throughout the process? Was I able to learn and grow from this experience? Am I closer to reaching my life goals? If I answer “Yes” to at least one of these questions, I know that for me, I was successful. And I take a moment to revel in the empowered feeling of being successful in that moment.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Totally! When I first started ATTAINABLE in 2019, I had no idea where this journey would take me. The twists and turns, the challenges, and the abundant network of entrepreneurs, creatives and coaches that I’ve built to support me and my business has allowed me to find my calling as a self-proclaimed happiness guide. Good to meet you!
My true passion in life is to go deep in conversation with people, like this convo:) I love learning all of the unique things that empower and light a person up. I love finding connections between the work people are doing today and how that ladders up to their true conviction and purpose in life. I love uncovering areas in their life that are keeping them stuck, and holding them back from living their dreams so that they can release their fears and evolve their mindset towards true contentment and happiness in life.
I bring this up because this is exactly how I work with my clients. I go deep in my one-on-one coaching and support clients in fully embodying their version of happiness to live their dreams. Because of this, my coaching is individualized and personal. I do not have a blanket curriculum or set structure that I coach by because each and everyone’s path to happiness is uniquely different—mine is different than yours and yours is different than your best friend’s. And the support each person needs to arrive in their dreams is different too.
In order for an impactful transformation to occur, I get to know my clients on a very intimate and honest level. I am the friend they never had who explores what is possible in their life, who talks straight with them, who illuminates the roadblocks they cannot see, who lights their path forward and holds them accountable to change. I am able to see my clients so clearly because I have been on this same journey and man, do I wish I had a guide with me to navigate the road! I am self-taught proof that happiness in life is attainable. I’m here to guide the way.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a loaded question! LA is abundant with amazing places and neighborhoods—there’s seriously something for everyone, everywhere you go.
I live downtown so I’ll start with my favorites there:
I’d make reservations at one or all of these places for dinner or brunch: Manuela, Night + Market Song, Perch and the ACE Hotel Rooftop. For drinks, the Golden Gopher. The Broken Shaker at Freehand, Pattern Bar Downtown.. the list goes on. And make sure to hit: Grand Central Market, Grand Central Park, The Broad, Union Station/ Olvera Street.
For hikes with incredible panoramic coastal views, the Zuma Ridge Trail and/or Los Liones Trail. And then hit El Matador Beach in Malibu on the way home.
And carve out time to park and walk around these neighborhoods to enjoy their character, shops, food and drinks in the sunshine: West Hollywood (The Beanery!), Silver Lake, Venice/ Abbot Kinney, Downtown/ Arts District.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
BIG shoutout to Tara Mohr for being a strong voice and guide along my business journey. I read Tara’s book, Playing Big a few years ago and am enrolled in her Playing Big Course now. Her work has supported me in transforming into the person I am today, so I can guide others on their journey towards ultimate fulfillment, joy and happiness.
