Meet Anastasia Locklin | Holistic Licensed Psychotherapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anastasia Locklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anastasia, how does your business help the community?
Unlock Your Joy Therapy was founded with a mission to aid Women of color toward a path of healing and purpose despite Mental health and risk factors such as: anxiety, depression, intergenerational trauma, and cultural microaggressions for the sake of our collective to connect back with our greatest gift of intuition, and celebrate the diversity of our own human experiences while returning to a place of unconditional love.
I am a Spanglish speaking biracial Black and Latina intuitive holistic licensed marriage and family therapist with over ten years of clinical experience with a passion to aid Women of Color in their self love and healing journey. As a therapist, I hold space for my clients to be seen and heard in a nonjudgmental sacred space. I guide my clients to reclaim self-love, joy and heal from self-esteem struggles, depression, anxiety, co-dependency, toxic relationships, and intergenerational trauma. My passion and purpose as a therapist is to support my clients along their healing journey as they reconnect with the powerful, unique and purposeful individuals which they have always been.
My belief is that every individual has the inner strengths to thrive while living in a space of love and joy. Through the privilege and experience of educational studies, clinical work, life experience and personal healing, I have come to realize and understand that we all have special strengths, different insights, personal meaning and purpose for our lives. I offer a compassionate down to earth, holistic integrative approach to therapy. I aim to empower my clients toward the path of radical acceptance, self awareness, and forgiveness so they may live fulfilled, joyful and gratifying lives.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My goal and desire to become a therapist was fueled from my desire to empower Women of color like myself to heal through intergenerational trauma, childhood traumas, and heal from co-dependency and toxic relationships. All of these traumas and this healing work is integral in healing our collective as Women because when we heal ourselves, we heal those who have come before us and aid in the healing of those who come after us.
I offer an Anti-oppressive, inclusive, humanistic, holistic and integrative approach to therapy. I harness my humble, intuitive, and compassionate nature to establish a trustworthy therapeutic relationship with my clients. My goal as a therapist is to aid my clients in seeing all the beauty and magic in themselves, encourage them, and challenge them to pursue a life they deserve and desire. My mission and purpose is aiding in the healing of others by holding the space of unconditional regard for those connect with to truly hear themselves again, see themselves fully and connect with their most authentic selves.
As Women of color while navigating our journey, some of us may have experienced childhood trauma, intergenerational trauma, or even abusive relationships that may have caused us to adopt truths that were never ours to begin with. These adopted truths can stem from our own trauma, wounds or even just a desire to have a sense of belonging in the world. These adopted truths leave us feeling unvalued, anxious, depressed, and disconnected from ourselves. My goal as a therapist, is to aid my clients in reclaiming hope, seeing their truest highest selves, and guiding them to connect back to their innate power, self-love and joy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I LOVE LB so we would have so much fun!
I start most of my mornings with the most Amazing workout at Orangetheory Marina. Jene’ and Chelsea are my go-to trainers. They will have you earning your morning WINS first thing in the am. I walk out of every class with a better mindset than how I arrived with without a doubt. I highly recommend an Orangetheory workout if you have never taken one. I know the first one if free. Then after a great work out we can connect with ourselves and stretch it all out in yin yoga class at YOGA 108. Then after yoga, it’s time to eat.
I LOVE Vibes Beach Cafe they have the absolutely BEST breakfast in LB so we are definitely starting there. I love the Cali Vegan Bowl followed by a nice walk along Beach on the LB bike path the joy I get walking along the beach makes my heart smile literally!
Beach Vibes Cafe is super close and walking distance from Belmont shore which is one of my fav spots to boutique and thrift shop. I’d take my bestie to Sweet Jills for a sweet treat for a sweet girl
PCH and Second is super cute and a fun chic place to shop and catch a really nice sunset. My Go-To’s are either Bungalow Kitchen or Ola Mexican Restaurant for great sunset views and vibes, music, drinks, and last but not least yummy appetizers . As you can see I am foodie
