We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Fantauzzi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, how do you think about risk?
As an Actor and Filmmaker, in my opinion, I believe taking risks is essential. However, before anything else, preparation is the key to success. I am a firm believer in training and from the producer side, there are always going to be “fires” that you are going to need to put out throughout the course of production. It is important to make sure your side of the street is clean, so you are able to tackle the unpredictable – because it will always be there.

I have taken a lot risks in my career from where I have lived and having very little money, to now being a full-time freelance creative who works on both sides of the camera. I have found (what tends to be true for me) is following my gut and and trusting when opportunities present themselves, as I have prepared and cultivated relationships based on training, trust, and hard work.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would say what gets me the most excited is working with incredibly talented people! It takes a village to make a film or show and getting to work with those who have just an amazing skill set and are insanely dedicated always brings a smile to my face.

What sets me apart? I’d say the amount of skills I’ve been lucky enough to acquire throughout my years. I work in a lot of different fields in this industry – I have many tools in my tool belt, as one of my old professors used to say.

Oh gosh no, getting where I am today was not easy. How I got here took a lot of hours, a lot of dedication, tenacity, and training. I also never let anyone tell me how my life is suppose to go, or what I can or can’t do based on my gender and other skill sets. One quote I live by, “Be so good they can’t ignore you”. – Steve Martin

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to stand up for yourself and to fight for the life you want.

I am an Actor and Filmmaker who gives her all to the projects I sign onto and has been working in this industry for over 20 years. I am able to bring a dynamic and sensitivity to projects based on my upbringing and have become known, as a filmmaker and teaching artist, for working well with children.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love downtown Burbank and Los Feliz and hiking would definitely be on the agenda, if that was something they were interested in. When I first moved to Los Angeles, I lived in Highland Park and there is this amazing little breakfast place over there that I adore. I’m also a sucker for Universal Studios and would definitely take them there!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh goodness, there are so many! The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, The Second City, Oklahoma City University, Actor Salon, Perry-Mansfield, Coterie Theatre, my wonderful managers, and all the incredible mentors and teachers who have helped me along the way.
