We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Arboe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I saw that there was not a program by an autistic on driver readiness, so I wanted to host webinars, partnerships in all 50 states to have something for people to access, instead of having to take it all on their own. I know what that feels like.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of our main function, which is our webinar series that touches the many topics for driving that most drivers should know and we also cover the autism aspects like sensory needs, police interaction strategies, driving situations, and different pathways people can take for transportation. All are done in a eight week program and its duration makes it doable for anyone and we help people connect to local resources afterwards. This is what I want the world to know about Driving with Autism.

It started with me doing some presentations locally to trying out a partnership with a local school for some time. I left to pursue my own company. I am still learning ways to manage to make it the best thing possible. I learned that it takes devotion and knowing the right people to make something like Driving with Autism possible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Foxwoods in Connecticut. They contain the Junior’s restaurant, a place that is known for their cheesecake in NY. I rather go to Foxwoods, then be in New York for getting their famous cheesecake.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Andrew Komarow of Planning Across the Spectrum, my employer over there who supported my mission on driving readiness and being there for me.
