We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Moretti and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Being a full-time working mother is one of the most rewarding, yet challenging experiences of my life. I have been a licensed Esthetician for almost 12 years, and this is my first year as a permanent makeup artist and owner of my business, “Brow Couture by Angela”. Besides being a goal-oriented career woman, the most important role I have is being the proud wife to my high school sweetheart and mother to our 3 beautiful children.

Throughout the years, I have learned that in order to be the best wife, mother, and beauty professional I can be, I must be fulfilled as in individual as well. I consider myself an overachiever and always strive give my absolute best in everything I do. However, I cannot give the best version of myself if I feel depleted. When trying to take care of my ever mounting list of priorities, self-care often falls to the bottom, so it is vital that I manage my time wisely to accomplish all I need to do each day.

I feel extremely blessed that I get to have the best of both worlds. I get to live out my childhood dream of becoming a mother, as well as pursue my passion as a beauty professional and business owner. My goal in life is to teach my children that with hard work, discipline, and determination they can follow their dreams and live a life they love. I wake up every single morning loving the life that I have worked so hard to create and want my children know that they are the driving force behind it all.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I was just 18 years old, I decided to pursue a career in the beauty industry because I knew the work schedule would allow me the freedom to be present as much as possible for my family, which was always the biggest priority for me. I wanted to be the mom that was able to see her child’s first steps, attend sporting events, and tuck them into bed every night. I also knew that I have a passion for the beauty industry because of the impact I feel like I am making in my clients lives. It is an amazing feeling knowing that I am helping clients look and feel their best, because I believe that when you feel your best you radiate that positivity to those around you. I wanted to become a successful business woman and an amazing mother simultaneously. So I decided that the path I wanted for myself would allow me to have the best of both worlds, and I worked hard to turn both of these dreams into my reality.

I consider myself a very ambitious person that is always searching for new ways to challenge my creativity and continue to learn and develop in life. This is one of the reasons I decided I was ready to take the next step in my career and get certified in permanent makeup. I know that in order to be successful in this industry it takes hard work, discipline, and determination from watching my siblings open their own beauty salons and seeing my parents run a successful business. I grew up in a family that valued a strong work ethic, and knew that becoming a business owner and entrepreneur would be in my future as well.

I had a 5 year old daughter and twins that were 1 years old when I began the journey of opening my own business. I chose to become certified from Microblading LA because I believe that in order to be the best, you have to learn from the best. I would make the 4 hour round trip to Woodland Hills several times a month to become certified and complete my apprenticeship. I would invest hours and hours to perfect my craft and practice on models in my daughters nursery. I didn’t let anything hold me back, and eventually I opened my own permanent makeup studio, “Brow Couture by Angela”. Someday I’d like to open my own training academy and develop a product line, and I’m excited that my children will get to see my hard work pay off over time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Bakersfield is somewhat of a small town, but it is central California which makes it great for weekend trips! If I had a friend that was visiting me, first I’d take her to my sisters salon “Brazilian Wax Boutique” where we could get pampered with all the latest and greatest beauty treatments (facials, tanning, waxing, and massage). Then we’d stop at Luigi’s for a glass of wine and delicious homemade pasta, along with the best Butterfinger pie! Lastly, we’d come back to my house where we an hangout in the pool and watch the sunset over the Bluffs in my backyard.

Los Angeles is about 2 hours away from where I live, which makes it the perfect day trip. I love to travel around LA for the shopping, food, and of course beaches. I’m a true California girl and I love relaxing at the beach on a nice sunny day!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my parents and my husband for their continuous love and support. I truly appreciate everything they have invested in me to become the woman I am today. It wouldn’t be possible for me to live out my dreams if it wasn’t for them!
