We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Sorrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, how do you think about risk?
I am definitely a risk taker. I took the risk to move to California for a better life for me and my family after being born and raised in a small East Texas town. I took the risk to quit a job that I hated to start my own digital marketing and printing company. I knew that I would not be able to leave my abusive marriage and support myself and my children with the money that I was making working full time. The risks paid off and my successful business has been open for 6 years.

What should our readers know about your business?
I decided to go back to college to learn as much about business as possible to start my own company to provide a better life for my children. Since I had a love for social media, I became certified in digital marketing. While earning my associates, bachelors, and master’s degree in business with a focus in marketing, I started a successful digital marketing and printing company in 2016. I was recognized for the Top Chamber Business Award in 2018 and Small Business of the Month by the California State Assembly in January of 2020 for giving back to the community while growing local small businesses. I continue to use my passion, talents, and expertise to grow businesses and nonprofits while giving back to the community using my company, Make Your Business Grow. I always give free marketing consultations to help small businesses with marketing strategies.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my best friend to the beaches, Santa Monica pier, Laguna beach for beach days. I would take her hiking to the Hollywood sign and the waterfalls at Eaton Canyon Falls. I would take her to a few rooftop hotel bars and restaurants. If it is during the holidays we would go ice skating at LA Live. One day we would go to the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My grandmother was my mentor. She showed me what true love is and gave me my work ethic. I wouldn’t have been able to be the mother that I am without the love of my grandmother.
