We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelique S.GREEN and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelique, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Thought Process was: Survival! Literally … To summarize. Perhaps as for many of us, 2020 has been a wake-up call for me.
Painful but necessary wake up call.

The global pandemic, disease, the recent political & social & racial events were the trigger.

I don’t want to have to constantly say or clarify that I am a woman and a black woman (Franco Senegalese) but I say it because I am and I am grateful, lucky and proud of my legacies.

It was 2020 along with the awareness, a deep honest thinking, a look in the mirror, a look at life, at the planet, at the world and an urgent need to take “some” kind of control that was the process of starting my own business.
Nutrition was the gateway.

I’ve been told a lot, “But Angélique do you think it’s reasonable to open a business in the midst of a pandemic? Why are you incurring costs when the economy is at zero? It is bad timing! Now is not the right time! It’s too risky etc … ”

I remember very clearly my answer that the risk would be, on the contrary, not to launch my business Alpha Moon Rising & L’Angelique right away.

It was as if in this great discussion around the global crisis that we are going through now and its inevitable collateral damage, I was being asked to shut up while me and my company are precisely an answer, my contribution to conversation.

The risk was too great! What kind of human would that make me?
I dare not even imagine what I would be able to contribute to the world if I had not followed my ideals and ignore what my guts are telling me.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a 100% Plant based Chef and I cook gluten-free, sugar-free and dairy-free. Why keep it simple when you can make it complicated and please everyone ?

In my entourage there are a lot of people with health problems related to nutrition, people with diabetes, athletes, people intolerant to gluten, dairy products, vegans, vegetarians, ketogens and people who just like me like to eat real good food.

My recipes are very specific and it is difficult, especially in pastry, to make good gluten-free, sugar-free and dairy-free cakes.
It took me over 6 months to perfect a perfect flour blend, it was a lot of work but I made it so that you don’t have to 🙂
I master the knowledge of my products, of my recipes and my customers know it.

Integrity, authenticity, listening, honesty and the pleasure of sharing are the keys of my success!

If I have customers, and if they’re happy, if they are satisfied and at peace and coming back every week then I’ve won, that’s the basic idea.

My 100% plant-based cooking and naturopathic company allows me to express my creativity while educating around nutrition (myself included), to share all the information that allows each individual to take control over their health, their well being, their knowledge and their power to do.

It is vital to eat well and even more to have a good time 🙂
I learned all the techniques when I was a student at the gastronomy school in France of course, but I’ve learned so much during my many travels around the world about algae Sea Moss, plants, spices and their virtues, and I keep on learning every day.

Whatever our race, our gender, our age, our beliefs, I want to pass on to our plates the best of what nature has to offer to us.
It’s delicious

Social impact is: Knowledge is power, and now you know!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I move from NYC to Los Angeles on February 2020, a month later we were all confined : So I didn’t get a chance to discover everything Los Angeles has to offer but I will share below the spot I was able to enjoy while muy short stay here 🙂

The Farmers Market Mar Vista, North Hollywood, Santa Clarita with an amazing selection of vendors and fresh organic vegetables amd Fruits.

Then my circuit would look like this
Visit Calamigos Ranch , stop at Malibu Fig Ranch , a little gem hidden that offers a great selection of seasonal product, have a lunch on the beach at Paradise Cove Beach Cafe, pass by Malibu Farm Pier Cafe, go rent a bike at Spokes ‘N Stuff or another rental bike company enjoy Santa Monica, The pier and
I would have a dinner at Enterprise Fish Co., Santa Monica they are the only one the fire pit to cook the fish on spot

Next day I would get lost Downtown LA and discover the old town, the street art, Angel Flights, the art district, the museum, the food court …

Next day definitely try Warners Studio and hang at night by the chinese theater or beverly hills …
I would also go by the Observatory, get lost in Echo Park, Silver Lake, Glendale …

Next day get out for a day trip in Pasadena and another day or 2 in Palm Springs ….

Los Angeles has just so so much to offer can’t wait to build and explore the city of Angels
