We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Achimowicz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, why did you pursue a creative career?
Creative career chose me. I was always a hyper active child growing up in San Diego, so my mom took me to modern dance class when I was 6 or 7 years old, being a figure ice skater herself in the past. Initially i was very resistant, but once i got the bug everything else came afterwards and as we say is history. Contemporary dancer, choreographer, then movement director. Dance and performance pedagogue, and also finally physiotherapist specialised in treating musicians and stage performers. I was hugely independent as a personality, pursuing a creative life path was just obvious about me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a rare breed. Theres not many people that are both an artist and medical professional in one. And that creatively pollinates. All of my artistic projects and identities are a hybrid of my experience and knowledge in the last 22 years of my career, which I happen to celebrate an anniversary of in 2022. For instance my Rock persona: Rock Dance Theatre – is a hybrid rock performance, fusing rock guitar & bass-guitar driven music, physical dance theatre, and visual fashion, founded by rock choreographer, dancer and front woman Anna Achimowicz in march 2016 and with its official name launching in July 2017 in Stockholm, Sweden.
My metal persona: REBEL CRUSH also known as poli-ameri-swedish stage artist Anna Achimowicz is a new metal solo project by physical front woman, performer, choreographer and bass player founded by Anna Achimowicz herself.
Feeding from over 20 years of international stage creation. Launched in April 2021 as a poli-ameri-swedish collaboration and fresh creative endeavour, currently crushing the boundaries between a wide spectrum of metal music and physical theatre.
‘Rebel Crush’ launched on 21-5-2021 online at Metal Injection’s Slay at Home Festival – Finale , and premiered on stage on 20-06-2021 at Warsaw Fantasy Fair.
My medical persona: Music Band Aid and Physiotherapy for Rockstars is: Helping out musicians internationally to Rock and Roll their health. Performing Arts Medicine CMT with its program #MusicBANDAid Physiotherapy & complex Body Management services by BA/NCMT/ CMT run by Physiotherapist Anna Achimowicz is a private practice oriented at helping musicians and performing artists New Competence Center- Physiotherapy for Rockstars launched in January 2020 by Anna herself, Head licensed physiotherapist and owner of individual medical practice Performing Arts Medicine CMT as MusicBANDAid – Physiotherapy for Rockstars specialised in body management and treatment of musicians, dancers, athletes and stage performers in the live arts industry. Co-author of “Body Management for bassists/ dancers/ performers” seminar series. Featured in 2021 Bass Player Magazine Autumn issue about musicians health ‘Play Safe’. Anna is a multi-talent and freelance artist collaborating with international artists among others within the music, physical theatre and fashion community. Featured in Bass Player Magazine US/UK, Bass Musician Magazine, ELLE magazine, Newsweek PL.

Is it easy? Never. The creative world is essentially masochizm. But the price of freedom in life to express yourself for who you truly are in your soul always makes it worth it. I’d like the world to know that my story is crossing boundaries between arts, styles and genres, cross pollinating them in a way never done before. Overcoming challenges? Dreaming huge, pana-vision and outwardly visions, but living one day at a time. I’m proud of all of my achievements and accomplishments. After 22 years, I’m still just getting started and the best days are ahead.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First of all my apartment, that’s where the best coffee is. But then we would probably extend it immediately in a trip across Stockholm, then Vienna and finally Italy. The home of best coffee and food. The itinerary would for sure include main rock and metal venues with our band friends playing, ending up in a rehearsal studio with creating something since my best friend is an artist as well.

So so many people…But let’s just say huge shoutout to my Mon, my Partner, and to a few of my Mentors. They know who they are!
