We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony James, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Making music is what I love to do. I feel most in tune with myself and my spirit’s purpose when i’m creating, and the idea of leading a life where I get to do that a lot, and simultaneously reap the financial benefits to take care of my people really drives me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is really just a collection of my experiences. I make a point of being very honest in my music, which is a point of pride for sure.

In terms of what i’m most excited about, it’s definitely everything that is in the vault right now. I was in the studio last night with my producer, and going through everything got us both very excited about what is to come.

There’s still a long way to go to where I want to be, but if anybody is up for that challenge and will stay the course, its me. Definitely not easy, but even now when I step back and look at all the progress that’s been made, its very worth it.

Learned a lot of lessons along the way, still learning and growing as I go.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think it’s all dependent upon who that person is that i’m showing everything off to.

But I think if its a week long we’re definitely doing multiple days of the beach, one day down in Laguna to be a little more ducked off, have a more chill day and get some Wahoo’s and Banzai Bowl, which is my beach day go-tos. Then maybe another day where we’re more in the action at a beach like Venice or Santa Monica, just so we can be a little more social if we’d like.

Maybe a night or two outside at rooftop bar in LA or a club, depending on what we were feeling.

A lot of good food mixed in for sure though – around my area definitely need to grab some El Farolito over in Placentia and some Hibachi one night too.

So many options, this is just what came to mind as we speak. Southern California has so much to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family deserves that recognition for sure. My mother, father, brother, extended family & even those who are not blood but have supported me like it. They’ve been more loyal than I could ever ask. I do this for myself, but I do it for them too. A huge reason I keep going is so I can take them with me into a lot of beautiful experiences ahead.

Special love to Marisa Monge, thank you for always being with me. On my more human days where doubt creeps in, you singlehandedly keep me going.
