Meet Anthony Salas | Owner of Honey from the Ant-Tree

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Salas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Starting in 2020 when the whole world basically was shaken was one of the scariest things I ever did. I quit my job to pursue my business while helping the kids with online school when the pandemic hit. So between being a dad /teacher I would make beeswaxcandles and jar honey while the kids did their school work. They would get out at about 12 pm and one of them would tag along with me selling our candles as I sold honey. Call me and my girls the dynamic quad , as we went business to business sharing our local honey and candles. So we’ve been balanced since the beginning of Honey from the Ant-Tree . We’d get home and I make dinner and have always been able to get them to practice and games and my favorite part praying over them and putting them to bed which I never was able to do with my old job. I think the balance is what every human dreams of taking your kids to work and teaching them your trade. My girls and I quadrupled our sales in just 3 months and business continues to grow through work and family time.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We started the business in 2020 as I worked with the local beekeeper, and found that his honey cured of us or allergies. We then set out to share this with our community creating the first and only local honey delivery service in southern California. When people got Covid 19 or any other sickness we were at there doorstep with in my opinion the best thing for sickness, local honey. That same year we created Cbd honey from the Ant , a none Thc, cbd only isolated honey that helps with pain, sleep insomnia and even arthritis. Since then we’ve created 3 others Including Cbg ,Cbn and Cbc honey. All of this while handcrafting our beeswaxcandles that reduce toxins in your air when you burn them. Nothing in life that has meaningful is easy, I’ve failed 3 times as the business opened , yet every time we grew better and learned lessons along the way. The one and most important lessons being , staying persistent is the key… if it was 110 degrees we knocked doors, with cold honey sweetned honey elixirs. If it was raining we had hot tea and honey door to door. We just never stopped now for 4 years. What this persistency has created is our own homeless ministry where we get to provide the homeless of our communities hot meals and coats and socks In the winter, but more importantly prayer and just a person to talk to.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My idea of fun is different from most. My bestfriend and I are ultra trail runners so we definitely be on the pacific crest trail most likely running 20 or more miles as he’s getting ready for another 100 mile race and I’m Getting ready for a 50 mile race

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mentor is Bill Matthew’s, who daily challenges me to be my very best and the guy who got me into trail running which has changed my life . The book that he had me read most recently was The Four Agreements which have changed my way of living. He shaped me to be a better man for my kids. My Girls Jaymie, Alena, and Trinaty getting out there with me and knocking doors since 2020. But most recently my wife Adrianne who has been most influential in making my practice the first and most important agreement from the Four Agreements book, which is be impeccable with your word and has done all the back end stuff to make our business more official through the years .
