We had the good fortune of connecting with Antony Espinoza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antony, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
That is an interesting question and an easy one at the same time. Every time I have to deal with a challenged situation, I’m always perseverant and constant with my actions. Even though I’ve had moments where I wanted to give up, I always thought that I have to keep going in order to accomplished whatever I was wishing in that moment.

If you really want to accomplished your dreams and goals, you can’t give up. There are a lot of moments where you are tired, exhausted and even sad because things aren’t going the way that you wanted to, but that is no reason to give up.

How to know when to give up? In my opinion is never. Keep going even when you think that you can’t. Even when life is treating you in a bad way or even if you think that you don’t have more strength. Deep inside you, there is always power and ability to keep going. There is a saying “Pretend that you are strong and invincible and one day maybe you’ll forget that you are pretending”.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I love what I’m doing in the music industry. I’m proud to say that I can do a lot of things such as being a Producer, Guitarist, Bassist, Composer and Audio engineer. I love each of them but what I love the most is being a performer. I’ve had the opportunity to play for small audiences (20 or 30 people) and for big shows (15k+ people). You’ll never know and that’s one of the things that I really like about music.

There are a lot of opportunities for everyone, the only thing is that you have to find them and you have to be prepare for whenever they come to you. I consider myself a person who is always looking for different opportunities. The more you know, the more opportunities you can get, that’s why I’ve learned different majors in the music industry as I said before. It is not easy tho since you really have to put yourself out of your comfort zone most of the time. Call it weakness or strength but I always say “yes” to any single opportunity, even though I don’t feel 100% sure about if I’m really capable of doing it or not.

Nowadays, I keep improving myself with small details. I keep improving my weaknesses as a person and as a professional. I’m not where I want to be yet, but I know I’m in the right path.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In L.A I would start the week going to the Malibu. I love the beach so that would be an amazing start. After that, I would go to get lunch in any Peruvian Restaurant near by (of course Peruvian restaurant). I would definitely go to any view where I can show them all the city (hikes).

I would do a road trip, either to San Diego or San Francisco. Road trips are the best because you can have a nice view while driving and have some stops wherever you want (lunch, pictures, etc). I also would go to Las Vegas just for the experience and finally I would end the week having some walks around the city (Santa Monica, Pasadena, Glendale. etc).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely. My parents in the first place. I am responsible, perseverant and disciplined thanks to them and how they taught me. If I have to say one thing I’ve learned from each one, would be perseverant from my dad and disciplined from my mom.

My friends, whom I can count them with my fingers. They are always pushing me (in the good way) to keep going. They’ve always been supported with me and I know I can always count on them.

Last but not least, I had a teacher in high school who helped me to convince my parents that music has been always my path. He talked to them and thanks to that I had a small chance to change their minds about music which I did with my actions.
