We had the good fortune of connecting with Anya Zadrozny and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started my business seven years ago, it felt more like a reaction than an action. I was ready to give the 110% I was already giving, but get to accept the benefits as well as shoulder all the consequences. It felt a little like skydiving for the first time, I’m jumping from a plane with a parachute that I haven’t tested but am believing and hoping it will work!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I created a qualitative research and video marketing company, AnyaZMedia. I put people, their stories and their experiences first. It may sounds cheesy, but I love being able to put people at ease, meet them where they are and let them feel heard. All three of those things help me get my clients the best results and give them confidence in using me as a partner.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living so close to New York City, I always feel like I have the world at my finger tips. We’d definitely make sure to go to some outside touristy places like Central Park, Washington Square Park and/or even Times Square. I think it’s important to not try and be too “cool” when experiencing a new place. It can hinder a good time. Popular places can be a fun starting spot and then we’d navigate to off-the-beaten path, hole in the wall restaurants, thrift shops, dive bars and coffee shops.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh heck yes! I want to thank Bonnie Perry, my mentor and fellow Qualitative Researcher for introducing me the field. I want to thank the members of the Qualitative Research Consultants Association. I’m currently serving on the board of directors for QRCA.
