We had the good fortune of connecting with Anzo Diaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anzo, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I think I always had this creative mind and artistic vision since I was very young. I had ton of referents that kept me inspiring me to keep going. My references always were pursuing their dreams so I was just following their steps and I ended up finding my own voice as well. I think artist and creative fields are very tough, you have to constantly fight to make yourself a spot in this complicated industry. I decided to jump into this career because I felt passion about it, the fashion industry and the art are two of my favorite things, but I will say I don’t like to just focus my goal in fashion if not go forward than that. There is so many people that want to success and I still processing lot of things still because as a Creative Director I have millions of ideas around my head and sometimes is hard to manage but it is part of the process and part of the artist lifestyle. When I was young I was telling myself I would be successful and that I would do anything for it. I believe that was a big push to me and I promised that to myself, that I wouldn’t give up, but also I feel very grateful for the opportunities that came to my life and I keep fighting for more and more because since I was a kid i always wanted it all.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As I said before it was very difficult for me to realize what i finally wanted to do. I found my own voice in the process but I think im still learning from failing and success too. I took many decisions that were very difficult for me. I grow up in a happy place and my family always supported me but I started to work at the age of 18 and I never stopped, I knew that if i was gonna get my target i had to start. About the challenges and how did i overcome them it was more about passion, the passion that i feel for this industry goes above everything else, i feel when you have a target there is no walls in between so you are able to do everything no matter how hard it is to get it. I wanted to work with big brands, big artist and get influenced by them, learn from them so I never saw anything to stopped me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in New York now so I would definitely go to the most important spots in the city, the tourist ones.. Empire State, Central Park, Chelsea and the galleries are amazing so I would go there too. Times Square.. but I dont really like the tourist attractions so I would rather prefer to go to have dinner around Brooklyn or Lower East Side, the vibe there is amazing, also there small galleries around the city but the best way to get inspiration is the street, you have a whole world of deferents activities. I love to sit in Domino Park by the water and get the best views of the city, get some wine or coffee around..

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly nothing that i got it wouldn’t have been possible without my family support, my grandparents, my mum and my dad has always been there for everything i needed it. I think my friends were an important part in my life as well but I haven’t share that many things about my creative perspective, I feel I was running my own race inside my mind. I was always keeping my focus and manifesting my dreams and also fighting for them. Sometimes i used to feel very lost and that nobody around could also understand what I wanted. Everyone kept saying that i was dreaming too much and i couldn’t get everything in life. I guess they didn’t say trying to not support but it is true that people has different perspectives of life and they see things as impossible but the truth is that i never care about what everyone things i just do what i want and i work really hard for that.
