We had the good fortune of connecting with Arestia Rosenberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arestia, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I think a strong follow-through has served me well. A lot of people have great ideas, but actually realizing them? That’s a talent I think a lot of people lack and is truly undervalued. And it’s that personal habit that has served me well in my business–I don’t just help people solidify their ideas, but actually help them to produce them.

What should our readers know about your business?
I was scared to quit a job I very much liked to start my own business, worrying if I was throwing away a career I had worked so hard to build, but I also knew in my gut it was the right choice for me. It’s been seven years since then and I can’t see myself doing anything else. I love helping clients in their most dire hour of need, struggling to realize their creative visions or content strategies. It also allowed me to direct and produce my old short documentary. It’s called NAME CREW: TINY TOONES about a Cambodian refugee who started a hip hop and breakdancing school for impoverished yourth, which won several film festival awards.

One thing that’s surprised me is I’ve ghostwritten dozens of books over the past few years. I didn’t set out to do that, but with my love of storytelling and there being more and more of a demand from business experts, it’s something I’ve really enjoyed doing and look forward to doing more of.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a surfer, a little surfing lesson at Venice followed by a coffee at Menotti’s would be a must and some strolling/shopping on Abbot Kinney. I cannot get enough of the whipped eggplant at Elefante, and it has good vibes so I’d take them there. I also live near Inglewood, so we’d have to do the original Roscoe’s chicken and waffles, but I’m also near the Jon & Vinny’s on Slauson which is great, as is a coffee at the beautiful Hilltop on Market Street. For sights, I love hiking up in the Santa Monica mountains, perhaps do the Temescal Trail. I’d also be remiss not to visit the LACMA and Academy museum followed by some matzoball soup at Canter’s. The Getty Villa is also a favorite spot, especially at sunset.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My story really began at Boston University, so I first want to acknowledge the wonderful fellow students and instructors I had there that inspired me, especially my late professor Bill Linsman who not only encouraged me to follow my dreams, but also gave me the confidence I needed to go out and achieve them. My parents also made me feel like anything in this world was possible for me, so I owe them that way of being and thinking. And I’ve really relied on the close circle of friends and professional colleagues I keep to help me work through challenges, who make me think, and really make my work more interesting and fun. There are far too many to name!
