We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Mariano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, what matters most to you?
A principle that matters to me is “Embracing Failure”. This matters most to me because I’ve accepted that I am only human and will always fail.
However, my failures do not define who I am; they mold and make me better than I have been. I have grown and learned to use my downfalls as building blocks to strengthen and excel me.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In addition to having a full time career as a Project Engineer; my passion/work as a singer/song writer is what helps drive me. It’s not easy pursuing music while juggling a full time time job. Having little to no time in the day to rest and constantly being on the go from work to the studio, has really challenged me to better manage my time. It has taught me how valuable time is, and has allowed me to better choose who and what my energy is expended on.
The world needs healing, truth and love. Through the songs that I have released; I believe that they share honesty and love that can heal. I didn’t start releasing my music to become famous or make millions. To me, that is not a sustainable goal. my pursuit in music is to share parts of my story to help anyone heal from similar issues that reside internally. My music is my diary; foolish thoughts and everything. My goal with my music, to put it simply; is to be the light in the darkest of places.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Death & Co
Tony’s Salon
The Arts District
The Getty
LACMA
Griffith Observatory
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As much as I have had so much support from my friends and family; to finally release my music was all done through faith. I’ve been told that “even if your music just impacts one person; you’re succeeding.”
I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by a good handful of supportive people that believe in me and the songs that I write. In addition to giving all the glory back to God, I am so grateful for those that have supported me through this journey.
