We had the good fortune of connecting with Arman Mkrtchyan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arman, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
My background as an Armenian immigrant has profoundly shaped who I am today. Moving to Los Angeles, I carried with me values such as resilience, hard work, and community that are deeply embedded in Armenian culture. My family told me a lot of stories growing up about overcoming adversity and never giving up, which is why I never let myself give up. The businesses I have built such as YAN Marketing, were born out of this drive to excel and be successful.

Being Armenian means having a strong sense of family and responsibility, and I carry that into every aspect of my work. My experience growing up has taught me the importance of building relationships, offering exceptional service, and staying connected to the community. While I’m rooted in my heritage, I also embrace innovation to navigate the competitive and cultural landscape of Los Angeles. This balance of tradition and progress helps me succeed, reminding me that no matter where you come from, hard work and dedication will always pay off. Despite my success, I cannot compare to the sacrifices my family has made for all of us to find hope here in the states.

Starting my own business was a natural step for me after years of studying and working in different roles; always feeling the drive to build something of my own. I wanted the freedom to create and run a business on my terms, where I could apply my skills and make a real impact for my customers or clients. What I enjoy most about owning my own business is the flexibility and independence it offers. I can set my own schedule, work with clients who share my values, and constantly experiment with new ideas. This freedom allows me to grow both personally and professionally, while shaping the direction of my business in a way that feels authentic. My first book, coming soon, will focus on Digital Marketing and explore the system I developed, Hyper-Focused SEO, which I believe is essential for growing a small business into a powerful brand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Los Angeles for a week, I’d start by grabbing some breakfast at the famous Porto’s Bakery in my hometown Glendale, followed by a hike up to the Griffith Observatory for the views. For dinner, we’d enjoy some authentic Armenian food at Carousel Restaurant or Raffi’s Place.

We’d spend a beach day in Santa Monica, having lunch by the Pier. At night, Downtown LA would be fun to explore with a visit to Perch for rooftop drinks. Of course, we’d check out Hollywood, and check out the Walk of Fame, but for me that’s alittle too touristy.

For the final day, we’d hit up Silver Lake for coffee at Intelligentsia. To wrap it all up, a day at The Americana at Brand in Glendale for some shopping, ending with dinner at Octopus in Burbank.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe that no one succeeds alone, and my journey has been shaped by the support and guidance of many incredible people. First and foremost, I’d like to give a huge shoutout to my family, which has been the foundation of my success. Despite my belief in myself, I’ve pursued my entrepreneurial dream thanks to their support in the many things that I have tried over my life just to find an ounce of success. My mentors and peers in the marketing industry have also given me invaluable advice and insights over the years. I’ve also learned a lot about adaptability and constant learning from books like The Lean Startup by Eric Ries and Marketing Made Simple by Donald Miller. Lastly, I owe my clients a lot, whose trust in me keeps me going and fuels my drive to keep improving. They’re a big part of my journey, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to work with them.
