Meet Arvin Chau | Videographer & Director of Photography

We had the good fortune of connecting with Arvin Chau and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arvin, why did you pursue a creative career?
Growing up, I wasn’t always consistent with the sports or activities I tried, but after moving into the states and taking a film class, something inspired for me. It sparked a passion I hadn’t felt before as I realized that visual storytelling gave me a way to express myself in ways I couldn’t with words. That experience had a real impact on me and made me want to pursue this path creatively. Since then, ive been considering going into this industry professionally and just trying to work hard.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always created things I genuinely enjoy, and having creative freedom lets me explore my style. There are so many others out there who are more strategic and hardworking with marketing, which motivates me to keep grinding. Mindset and discipline are tough, especially during days where you burnout and it’s the number one thing i struggle with. I do hope more people recognize my work — but more importantly, I want to stay true to what I love creating.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The beaches around LA have always been popular — that hasn’t really changed over the years I’ve lived here. They’re great places to meet people and create content, especially for influencers. Downtown has its moments too, but if you’re really looking to interact with people, expos and creative events are some of the best spots to do it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God always. He’s provided me with opportunities and meaningful connections that have shaped who I am today, even during times when I’ve struggled in my faith. I prayed for courage, especially because I’ve always been a timid person, and instead of giving me instant confidence, He gave me challenges that pushed me out of my comfort zone. There were moments during certain gigs or projects where I truly had no idea what I was doing — how to lead, how to direct — but I’ve come to realize that it’s all part of the process. I’m really grateful to my parents too for believing in me, investing in my growth, especially getting me a camera early on helped me gain experience and exposure faster.
