Meet Ashley Berry | Author & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Berry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from the very small town Carson, North Dakota. Growing up in a small town had it’s advantages, I mean who doesn’t love being able to get across town in two minutes, feeling safe, the peace and quiet. But with small comes with not very many opportunities, or new places to explore to find out who you really are. It made it challenging to find what I was passionate about. Some of the things I’ve achieved to this day, felt a world away when I was little.
Growing up in a small town gave me that extra drive to get out there and dream as big as I want. For so long those dreams were contained to this small tiny box and now that I’ve opened that box, the opportunites have been endless.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My husband and I have a family run greenhouse in the spring and a pumpkin patch and corn maze in the fall months.
Growing seven greenhouses full of beautiful flowers and plants for the community to enjoy for the summer months is very rewarding. It has its challenges, between the business side of things and caring for the flowers daily three months prior before they are sold can be very exhausting.
The fall months are great with the pumpkin patch, it has become a tradition for everyone in the community. To see all the kids come running through the gates with the biggest smile on their faces, so excited to spend the day there, defintely makes all the work and effort worth it. I also get to channel my creative side with it, each year we have a theme and I spray paint characters on bale stacks.
Having the success from the businesses has allowed me to explore other passions. Becoming an author and publishing our story, “Waiting for Rainbows” lit a writing spark in me that I didn’t know I had. Taking that first step has snowballed into so much. A children’s book, I then decided to adapt “WFR” into a screenplay, once that was done I decided to help produce my first feature film “Four.” based on “WFR” I was a part of the whole project from screenplay to the finished product that just got done on November 1st.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not from Los Angeles, but I’ve been back four times in the last year. I was busy most of the time working on projects, so I didn’t get to explore too much.
I would say the biggest thing is going to sample all that amazing food that LA has to offer. I got to eat at a few great places and with those places came amazing views and let me tell you breakfast, lunch or dinner is always better with a view.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I decided to publish and share our story, I didn’t know where to start. I did some research on publishing companies and came across TSPA The Self Publishing Agency, based in Vancouver B.C., it was a perfect fit and seven months later I was holding my dream in my hands. I couldn’t have done it without them.
