We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Buckley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
This is the question I asked myself when I came up with my business idea. I started a list of things that make me happy and what I realized is that I love coordinating things together that spark joy. Whether it is a table-setting and flower arrangements for a party or choosing new furniture for a room, it makes my heart happy to express my creativity thru design and have my friends, family and clients experience the results.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Serene Home Styling is an interior design/styling business that specializes in Feng Shui. I’m proud to offer my clients a unique experience that includes energy balancing for the home and its occupants. I provide a holistic approach that starts with setting an intention for your space and clearing old and stagnant energy. I work with my clients to remedy spaces that don’t feel right, and we nourish ones that do. What I love most is that my clients feel good about the entire process and are eager to tell others. My goal is help people feel good in their homes or office and I’ve learned that I don’t necessarily have to rely on social media to get the word out. When you love what you do and feel good about every aspect of it, that positive energy attracts other people and opportunities will easily flow your way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My secret spot in Los Angeles is Lake Shrine Temple. It’s a 10-acre zen garden a few blocks from the ocean where you can immerse yourself and nature and ground yourself. Afterwards I suggest cruising up the coast to the Malibu Country Mart for some delicious eats at the Real Coconut followed by a yoga and meditation class at The Mindry. Walk around after and enjoy all the fun shops and/or take a sunset stroll at Paradise Cove.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is a Zen proverb that says, “When the student is ready the teacher will appear” and that is exactly what happened to me. I had been curious about Feng Shui but really had no idea where to start. Enter in Charmaine Mitchell. I had been purchasing Magic Tea tonics from Charmaine every week for over a year. We were always friendly and enjoyed seeing one another however, it wasn’t until she told me that she had to go out of town for work that I asked what she did besides make tonics. She enlightened me on her Feng Shui business and how she had clients all over the world. I nearly fell over and demanded that she tell me everything! She was eager to learn from me as well as she always had admired the interior design of my home. We sat together for a while and after she left, I proceeded to sign up for the International School of Feng Shui. It was a beautiful process, and I am so thankful for her guidance.
