We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Duran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Growing up I didn’t come from what many would say a rich family. Losing my mom in my late teens made me grow up a lot faster than others. It dramatically changed my life. I wouldn’t say I come from an easy way of life, but I have been and still face challenges today. Not that many people know that about me because I am a person who likes to keep to myself when it comes to feelings and emotions. I was always told to be strong, independent and don’t depend on anyone else. I wake up every day, and I ask myself this question, keep going or give up? I constantly remind myself that there is always going to be good days, bad days, and maybe just some of those days in between. Through all of life’s challenges, I am not someone who gives up even on my most darkest days. Even when there’s times, I am barely hanging by a string, theres always my inner conscience to keep going and don’t give up. I like to laugh out loud by watching funny videos, I like to dance like no one is watching and listen to upbeat music. I’m a firm believer what you give out to the universe is what you’ll get in return. One of the many things I learned in life is to always keep going and never hold back. There’s so much to do and so much to explore. You never know what moment will come next. The moment you give up is the moment you may lose everything. For anyone reading this, just be like Dory in Finding Nemo. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When it comes to my modeling, I always give my best no matter what when creating. What sets me apart from others is I take the time to plan, create, and study for any upcoming shoot. I take every shoot serious, but I always make them fun as well! Practicing in the mirror sure does help lol. I am very proud to see how far I’ve come because I never even imagined myself modeling. It’s sure wasn’t easy at first. I was very shy and insecure when I was younger. I hated it! Then One day, I just got tired of it and didn’t want to miss any more opportunities. I wanted to be comfortable and confident within myself. Not for anyone, but for me. If you don’t love yourself how are you going to love anyone else? Self love is what taught me a lot when it came to modeling. It made me accept for who I am as a person. It made me more positive and confident enough to get out of my comfort zone. One thing I want the world to know about me is that it took a lot strength to get to where I am today. One day I hope to share my full story with others and motivate those in need.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely don’t have a favorite spot, but I love great views, good music, and friendly people. Most importantly, I am a person who is all about the vibe first. Energy never lies. Trust your gut. Of course, delicious food and tasteful drinks are always a plus! Anyone can catch me or my bestie most likely at a lounge or relaxing by the pool with great music and dancing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout-out to all the people who have supported me since day one. This includes my family, close friends, and photographers I’ve shot with. I can’t also forget the people who encouraged me through social media as well! Everyone who has supported me through all of this has made me become a better person by believing me at most.
