Meet Ashley Foster | Founder/Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Foster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
One piece of advice I disagree with would be “Success comes to those who wait.” When I started Asola Swim at 22 years old, I had no idea where to start, no roadmap, no co-founder, and no experience – I just had a vision and the determination to make it happen. If I had waited for more experience, more funding, or the “right” moment, I’d probably still be waiting. The reality is, there is no perfect time, and you’ll never feel 100% ready. I’ve built my business by figuring things out step by step, making mistakes, and using them as lessons. The best way to gain experience is by doing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Asola Swim is more than just a swimsuit brand, it’s a reflection of my passion for design, sustainability, and empowering people to feel confident in their own skin. What sets us apart is our unique one-piece swimsuits, thoughtfully designed to accentuate the figure while prioritizing comfort. Every piece is crafted from eco-friendly and sustainable fabric in Bali. As a one-woman-owned brand, I personally oversee every aspect of the business. From designing each suit to managing production, marketing, shipping, and customer experience. What I want people to know is that Asola Swim isn’t just about swimwear, it’s about confidence, sustainability, and making a positive impact. I built this company to help people feel incredible in their own skin, while also being mindful of our planet.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Building Asola Swim as a solo entrepreneur has been an incredible journey, but I haven’t been entirely alone. My dad has been a huge supporter throughout this process. From day one, he believed in me and my vision, even when I was still figuring things out myself. He didn’t just offer encouragement, he took an active interest in my business, helping me navigate challenges, brainstorm ideas, and celebrate wins. His support gave me the confidence to keep pushing forward, take risks, and trust in my ability to build something from the ground up.
