We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Lucas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Los Angeles, California, and I come from a very diverse background. Growing up, I constantly experienced change — from moving between my mother’s house to my father’s allowed me to see life through many different lenses. These experiences taught me never to fear change, but instead be able to. adapt to all environments no matter what it comes with.

As an adult, I have learned that change is a constant part of life. It’s important to continue growing, and to be well-versed in navigating different situations and communities.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I own and operate a photo booth business called PictureThisBoothLA, based right here in Los Angeles. Since 2019, we’ve been providing enhanced entertainment services. When we first started, my husband — who DJs part-time — and I thought it would be a great idea to add a photo booth option to his packages. At the time, we had just welcomed our son and were looking for ways to bring in some extra income.

Fast-forward to today, and I would have never guessed that I would be running the business full-time. Over time, I fell in love with the events industry — the ability to bring people’s special moments to life through photos and create unforgettable experiences made me realize that this was precisely what I wanted to do.

The journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. Every business faces its peaks and valleys, but for me, it’s about staying consistent, staying true to your brand, and doing what you love. What sets us apart is our commitment to creating a full custom brand experience for every client. We make sure every photo is perfect, every setup is clean and presentable, and every event feels special. We are far from your average photo booth company.

As for what I would want the world to know about me or my brand — I think my story is still being written, and I’m excited for what’s to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love this question! Los Angeles has so much to offer. I would probably start in Long Beach — check out the beach, take a bike ride along the coast, and just enjoy the beautiful California weather. I’d definitely recommend catching a game at SoFi Stadium; Inglewood is buzzing with energy right now and has so much to explore. While in Inglewood, I’d also suggest stopping by Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas — they have a great bar and always a good movie lineup.

We’d grab breakfast at The Coffee Company in Westchester — it’s definitely a must — and The Attic for an amazing breakfast at some point. For a night out, we’d hit up LostLA, Issa Rae’s new spot in Downtown LA, for drinks and good music. Of course, no trip to LA would be complete without a visit to Rodeo Drive — it’s a classic must-see for visitors. And to top it off, maybe brunch in Santa Monica to enjoy some ocean views and a laid-back vibe.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a special shoutout to the number one person in my life — my husband, Dawaun Allen Lucas Sr. He is truly my rock! Since the day we met, we have been a constant source of support for one another, both personally and professionally. There is nothing we wouldn’t do to help each other succeed in our professional endeavors. I believe having someone’s unwavering support during the journey of entrepreneurship is vital. Together, we keep God at the forefront of our home, our marriage, and our work.
