We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Resch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I first started my career I rarely had a work/life balance. When I started to pursue modelling and social media I was working full-time in a corporate position and would model and post on social media on my breaks and weekends. Fast forward almost 8 years later now I understand that if I am not at the best mentally, my work will suffer. The way I set up my work week is similar to a 9-5, Monday-Friday schedule, and its just based of off preference. I feel having a schedule as a self-employed person has helped me have a work/life balance.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been modelling for well over eight years and started my career in social media about six years ago. My work is unique to me and I truthfully believe and stand behind that each persons uniqueness is their power. I am proud of all I’ve accomplished from working with Playboy Centrefold and being an influencer for the brands I love like Akira and Pretty Little Thing. My career was doubted from the beginning, I’m a girl from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and making it as a model or social media influencer was doubted by so many and I didn’t even know if it would lead to anything, until it did.

I overcame the doubts of myself from internally and from others by staying strong in my faith and knowing that my life can be anything I want as long as I work hard and stay focused, so I did just that. I’ve learnt so much about myself and people, good and bad, but all learning lessons have lead back to mindset and truthfully life is all about what you believe you can accomplish.

I want the world to know that even when it seems unlikely and not possible it is. As cliché as it may be, everything in life is achievable if believe in it and work for it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favourite things about living in Los Angeles is the accessibility to the beach. For a long weekend I would start with dinner at one of my favourite places Elephante in Santa Monica followed by wine at Wallys, because the weekend is just starting I would want an early night so we could drive out to Malibu and if open, spend a couple hours at the Getty Center, followed by or having a beach day at El Marador. Now before traffic got to bad I would want to head back into West Hollywood/Hollywood for a classic LA dinner at either Cara, Catch, or Cecconis , depending on the mood and after that I would like nothing more but to have a night out at Classic Cat. Sunday’s are the best days in LA , in my opinion and starting with a drag brunch in Weho, the day would be spent meeting people and bar hopping around until we settle watching a Kansas City Chiefs game or a late day party in Hollywood.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout two different groups. ACT Alberta and the Downtown Women’s Center Los Angeles. ACT Alberta works within the community to put an end to trafficking in Alberta. Downtown Women’s Center is an organization that focuses on empowering and helping homeless and formally homeless women living in Los Angeles.
