We had the good fortune of connecting with Astarte’ Rises and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Astarte’, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The single most important decision that I’ve made that contributed and continues to contribute to my success has been stepping into the unknown. Pushing myself to venture into experiences that are not the usual and allowing my feet to take me where my intuition leads.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am Music. My art has been Music since I was a little girl who sat alone and made up songs. For most of my life until late I never saw myself musically reflected in the musical industry. But, music was there nevertheless. In school as a child in Dallas, Tx I had piano, violin, choir and clarinet to channel my musical interests through. My primary love however, is the instrument that is my voice but it took years to recognize that. The music only took real shape and form when I was led to my spiritual path. Through awakening to myself as a divine feminine being, as a spiritually limitless being my music took shape. Devotional music, ecstatic dance music, mantra and organic ceremonial music was given birth through me once I became actualized in my spiritual awareness.

What sets me apart from others is that my creations are all my own. Inspired by nothing other than a force that lives and breathes within me. Only I can bring forth these musical creations in the way that I do. Only I can be me and that is a super power. I am a priestess of song and dance and I take pride in having the ability to gather people together and facilitate a magical experience of healing, magic and bliss. I get excited at opportunities to follow my bliss inspired by my music and to bring people along for the ride. To show and tell people that we are beings of magnificence. I get excited at thinking about my next initiative to travel around, perform and touch the lives of others especially women. Exemplifying to women through my art the power and privilege and magic of being a feminine being. Art is the express image of being a woman and that is the message I am conveying through my creativity.

The uneasy part about self actualization or reaching “success” as we like to call it is overcoming fears and self doubt. The antidote to fear is approaching life with a light and playful heart. Doing and being our greatest desires and having fun. It takes the pressure off and playfulness pulls us out of our shells. Children are the greatest examples of being free. They play and make believe without fear, they dream the impossible dream and never worry about the how or questions their visions. They are just being in the moment. Realizing the power of going with the flow and having fun is how I’ve overcome challenges. I think that this is the greatest lesson I learned along with the understanding that nothing is constant and change is a necessary thing. Challenging myself to always be in a state of learning and growing. Without growth stagnation makes a home in your space and that’s just unacceptable. I’ve also learned how to uplift myself and be my own greatest fan. To grant myself grace when needed and to understand that it’s never too late to be the best version of myself.

I think I want the world to know that who I am and what I do is a divine reflection of them. That my music, uniquiness, beauty and creativity is simply a mirror of those around me. That we all have a path and an important piece of the puzzle that is ours to bring to the table and in light of this to fearlessly be uniquely you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to my ancestors who hold me up at all times. To my daughters Koko and Quin who are my ride or die sisters. My girl friends Hakikah Shamsiden and Dawn Nedd who have been beacons of light during foggy periods of my life. My mother and father for the blood and legacy that courses through my veins and making me a magical being. The lovers of my life by which major lessons were learned. To those who have encouraged and supported me over the years.
