We had the good fortune of connecting with Audrique Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Audrique, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I think it’s something so liberating about being able to put your story, your emotions, and bring your ideas into art form and present it to the world.

Being a creative does that for me it opens the door for me to be able to grow in my art creatively in whatever lane that may be.

Not to sound cliché but I just think a creative path is my calling.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I started styling back when I was younger In Chicago before I even knew that styling was really a thing, I always loved putting looks together for my friends but it wasn’t until I got my first job as a stylist at a boutique that I learned really quick that it wasn’t just about putting cute clothes on people. Being in that space pushed me to learn more about fashion I had just turned 17 at that time so I soaked up so much  around me from my colleagues that were older than me and was able to watch and observe and take pointers to really try to understand it more.

That same year I had an idea to direct and style my own shoot it was a bit ambitious at the time for me with little to no recognition in the area-scene but I just went for it! It was scary for me and I thought no one would show up for the shoot but surprisingly everyone did and it turned out great so to see what I was able to do with that gave me the push I needed to move forward with styling.

Since being in LA I’ve had the opportunity and pleasure of being able to assist and work on some amazing projects!

You can definitely expect more shoots, new visuals, and more curated content from me stepping more into my creative direction bag I’m really going to be tapping into sides of me that no one ever really see.

Yeahh we taking it there!

Also expect alot more modeling!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

A week long trip would consist of me and my bestfriend exploring the city, but eating is always first on the list so we’d definitely hit up a fire brunch spot and then plan for a dinner somewhere with great food and ambiance.

I’d plan for us to hit up some beaches on a nice day specifically out in Malibu because it’s a bit more calmer and we love a chill vibe.

Day parties is always a vibe for some midday fun and drinks so that’s definitely a go-to

A week long trip with us would be pretty spontaneous to say the least.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

Shoutout to my mom who inspires me daily to be great even when I’m not near her I feel her prayers always keeping me on track and guiding me.

My siblings Kazire, Trinika and James who give me the encouragement I need.

Chanel for always pushing me, seeing me and for always holding me down even in my tough times and reminding me who I am and what I’m capable of.

To all my friends who believes in me, support my goals and cheer me on from near and far this shout-out is for you too.
