Meet August Vanrynsoever | Naturopath Practitioner

We had the good fortune of connecting with August Vanrynsoever and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi August, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Due to my own healing journey I wanted to help provide a safe place for people to come heal.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Welcome to Fig Tree Wellness
Nestled in the serene hills of Ojai, our sanctuary weaves together integrative medicine, spiritual practices, and community to foster profound healing. As a survivor of severe domestic abuse, I, August Dolan, founded Fig Tree Wellness to empower individuals to reclaim their well-being and transform their lives.
Our Journey
My path began with service in a domestic Peace Corps program, witnessing the strength of communities uniting in crisis. This experience instilled empathy and purpose, guiding my life’s work. After studying photography at Brooks Institute, I learned to find light in every shadow – a metaphor for my journey.
Facing adversity, I turned pain into purpose, creating a safe haven for women escaping abuse. This foundation evolved into Fig Tree Wellness, a holistic healing center dedicated to empowering individuals to heal mind, body, and soul.
Our Approach
We combine integrative medicine with spiritual practices:
Microdosing and ketamine therapy for mental wellness
Guided journeys for emotional exploration
Acupuncture and bodywork for physical balance
Regenerative health through IV therapies and hyperbaric protocols
Our mission promotes health from the inside out, offering alternatives to conventional cancer protocols, detoxification from mold and heavy metals, and support for autoimmune issues. We encourage preventative care, empowering individuals to take charge of their well-being.
Our Vision
At Fig Tree Wellness, we envision a world where individuals break free from trauma, toxicity, and disease. We strive to create a sanctuary for healing, growth, and transformation, honoring each person’s unique journey.
My Story
As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned from my father’s inspiring ventures. Fig Tree Wellness began as a dream for women to rebuild and heal. After working with an integrative MD, I took on the practice, navigating challenges and growth. Today, I’m grateful for the journey.
To stay grounded, I practice sacred listening, gratitude, balance, and daily mindfulness. I want the world to know that natural healing is possible, and we can live vibrant, purpose-filled lives. FIG stands for Falling Into Grace – my personal journey and the essence of our sanctuary.
Join Our Community
At Fig Tree Wellness, we welcome you to our sanctuary, where healing, community, and transformation await. Let’s embark on this journey together, embracing hope, resilience, and profound wisdom.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my besties come visit Ojai I usually start the weekend taking them to the Thursday community farmers market. Hugs are a plenty with yummy fresh smells, children laughing, farm to table deliciousness and music to provide a life d.j. narrative. The next morning we would wake up and walk the dogs to my favorite coffee shop, three birds where the customer service is top notch. Then we would take a gentle hike up shelf road. Reconvene and head up to meditation mountain to practice mindfulness with Rachel the best sound bath in town. After a relaxing drop into the cosmo we would grab to go (depending on the season) from Bocolli’s. Saturday morning we would do some restorative yoga under the Topa Topa’s provided at a private residence, drop by the Dutchess for a luscious pastry. Change do some downtown ojai shopping at Kariella’s then that evening go to the deer lodge for some live folky music. Sunday would be a great day to head to the Inn for a few spa treatments and pool side lounging. This is an all day deal. Next day could be a rose valley day, hike to the waterfall or swimming hole then dinner at Rory’s my favorite… I always run into people I know around town so we will meet and gather with a variety of folks from artists, vegan hippies, musicians, cowboys, health practitioners. Farmer and the cook is always a feast and gathering of community. Heck we might even do some Watsu in miniers oaks to top off the full spectrum of relaxation and rejuvenation. AND don’t forget stopping by Fig tree wellness to get a recovery IV from all the hiking!!! Ojai is a mecca of health, wellness and community.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow! Well there are so many! Dr. Bernhoft has been a huge part of my story but also each of my practitioners at fig tree. My son’s John and Aj are also lovingly called my spiritual mentors. My therapist who specializes in DV and IPV has completely helped me turn my complex trauma into my super power and then my teacher Horse who has taught me to be present and understand the importance of sacred listening.
