Meet Aura Busigó | Wardrobe stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aura Busigó and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aura, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
In my high school days, I always had a thing for fashion, loved watching runways and doing outfits for my “casual days” at school. When graduation came, I didn’t know what I wanted to be. So I asked myself, “what’s the thing that I love the most?”
And there it clicked, I identified my true passion for the fashion world. Since there I made a commitment with myself to pursue my dream. It has been a long road because in my hometown Puerto Rico, fashion styling is rare, isn’t a big career you can make of it.
But that wasn’t a problem for me, I pushed thru, I had my ups and down, and now I’m the first wardrobe stylist in Puerto Rico to have an office. When I look back at my decision when I was seventeen years old, I won’t change it for nothing in the world.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others I honestly think that is my personality the way I make people feel. I love to help others, to make them feel unique and beautiful.
The most proud moment I have done was when I had to style Becky G in less than 12 hours with three looks. That was a huge challenge because at that time I had two jobs and I did styling as a hobby. When I received the call it was 12pm, I was at my job and couldn’t leave until 7pm, and the styling had to be done for next day 11am.
So, I had to call like three persons to help my out, also, call the stores to please wait for me to arrive so I can do some pull and algo make a fashion designer to make her a custom look overnight.
It was a huge challenge, but there I realize that this is what I really wanted, what I really liked.
It wasn’t easy for me to be where I’m today. Since my hometown is in Puerto Rico, here the majority doesn’t know what a wardrobe stylist is. So it’s a major challenge to establish yourself in a place where the opportunities are limited. But, I overcome this having faith in my vision, not letting anything distract myself from where I want to be. And knowing that if your heart desires it, push thru that you’re in the right direction.
I have learned so much along the way but the most importantly is not to take things personally. People come and go, clients come and go, if you know that your job is awesome, that is the best peace of mind.
I want the world know about me is that I do everything out of passion. If it wasn’t for the love that I have for styling I wouldn’t be here. Wardrobe styling is very, very challenging, it’s not jus to put a dress to a client, it’s know the business. It’s have been six years since I work in this industry and my dedication and love goes way far. This is my life, my everything.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this to God and my mom.
Her support and love had me going thru. She confessed me weeks ago that one time she paid my fashion school and was left with $6 in her account. She always do everything for me.
Thank you God, for providing me lil angels in the way of my career. Also for all the opportunities you have bring me.
