We had the good fortune of connecting with Averien Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Averien, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was my independence. Since I was a young man I’ve always wanted to work for myself, just like a saw my father when i was baby. When I able to start my first business at the age of 20 I never looked back. The entrepreneur spirit is in my blood, and I will continue it on with my children.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my first business Humble Clothing Co in 2007 when I was 20 years old, this was one of my proudest days because I had to figure it out and do it myself. I got where I am in business through a lot of research, hard work a putting my plan in motion. When I’m business, with no one to walk me through what it is needed in business, I had to make sound decisions. Sometimes I didn’t make the right decision, but that’s something that help through time, it help me see road blocks a head of time, so then I was able to make the right decision. Being in business is very hard, but if it’s something you really want, you will give your time to it. I Want the world to know that my brand, is about self awareness, one simple word (Humble) will change your life forever if you implement it into your life. So what we will continue to do is inspire the masses.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much to do in Phoenix Arizona. I am a nature person, I love the outside, so whatever we will do will beautiful and inspiring! Since we live in Phoenix where we have so much good Mexican food, I will have to take them by one of my favorite restaurants El Mesquite, it’s a small mom and pop restaurant but one of the best in the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to send a big shout out to my mother Marilyn Turner, she has been a major support system in my life, with out her I do t know where I’ll be. Also to my father Melvin Turner, for giving me my entrepreneurial spirit. I’m blessed to have 2 people in my life who add great value into my life.
