We had the good fortune of connecting with Ayomide Awobajo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ayomide, how does your business help the community?
Today’s world is full of so much hate, greed, and many other evils. A lot of this is attributed to the fallen nature of man. Growing up, I would hear people commonly say phrases like “we just have to go with the flow”. As I grew up and began to understand the flow of the world, it became clear to me that I didn’t want to be somebody who just follows the “flow” of things. I didn’t want to follow the flow of being someone who sees people struggling or being oppressed and not lend a helping hand. I wanted to be someone who stands up for those who barely stand and most importantly spreads love to all. That is where Faith Love Optimism (FLO) comes into play. FLO was inspired by a verse in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:13 which reads “Three things will last forever – faith, hope, love – and the greatest of these is love.” Though it’s FLO and not faith hope love (FHL), FLO was created to show people that they could pick up a new way of living, one that doesn’t sit in the states of depression, stress, anxiety, division, and other situations we see today. From my personal experience, the only way to know how to love others unselfishly is to know the one who loves us – God, and His one and only Son, Jesus. My life experiences have shown me that we have a long way to know what it means to love. That is why love is the central part of the brand. As we learn to know God more, we begin to understand what love is, and you become burdened to spread this love so others may receive it also. Don’t go with the flow of things, but be the FLO in your home, in your friendships, in your community.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What separates FLO from other brands is the fact that we are built upon a firm foundation, and that foundation is Jesus. Without Him, none of us would be here. Many people find it hard to understand the implications one man could have on an entire world and generations to come, but Jesus was not a man, He was God in the flesh. And, through showcasing the way that we engage with people, family, friends, and others, we want to showcase what it means to live in Christ and take up the “new way of living” that our brand emphasizes. Many people hear or think of the word “Christian” and have different connotations. The purpose of FLO is to show people that being a follower of Christ and taking on a new way of living isn’t about being a robot who follows a bunch of rules. It’s about relationship and being freed from some of the bondages that the world and pop culture try to hold us to whether that’s drugs, money, sex, alcohol, and so many other things that lead to people’s destruction. We want to change the way people think about and approach life, and this can only be done by knowing the One who is life itself.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my bros Temi and David who are a part of this brand with me, my mom, my dad, my sister, all my other family, friends, and everyone with a creative vision that is willing to take risks and be difference makers. I also dedicate this shoutout to everyone who has supported the brand in every single way whether through sharing, buying merch, I appreciate every single one of yall!
