We had the good fortune of connecting with Barii and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Barii, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
My most difficult decision was uprooting my family and moving to Los Angeles. During an uncertain time I took a leap of faith and it worked out and now I’ve worked on shows like The Proud Family, The Game, The Neighborhood and more!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart is my ability to be self sufficient, and having multiple talents from songwriting, producing to designing cover art and editing music videos for myself/ other artist.

I spent years trying to convince record labels and major artists to use my music, out of frustration, I began releasing the songs on my own!Doing this was one of the best decisions I’ve made, and now I have singles with millions of streams – independently!

My sound, which was ‘too unique’ for record labels, attracted major companies in the TV/Film world. One of which was the Music Supervisor – Ashley Neumeister gave me my first song placements ever and continues to be a pivotal person in my career. A few years ago, Ashley introduced me to the legendary, iconic composer Kurt Farquhar (King of Queens, The Proud Family Moesha, Being Mary Jane) this introduction changed my life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m new to LA and it’s a big city, it’s hard to do everything this city has to offer in one week – here is the places we would go:

Breakfast:
1. Sweet Butter Kitchen (Sherman Oaks)
2. The Griddle (Hollywood)

Lunch:
1. L’antica Da Michele (Hollywood)
2.Mauro Cafe (Hollywood)

Tacos:
1. Pablito’s (NoHo)
2.Tu Madre’s(WeHO)

Late Night Food:
1. Bossa Nova (WEHO)
2. Pablito’s (NOHO)

Hang out at Harald’s, drinks at Mama Shelter, and Hike at Runyan Canyon, and any other tourist attractions!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my mother, Melissa, Brian, Kurt, and Ashley for believing in me and constantly supporting me in my musical journey.
