Meet BARRETT | Artists

We had the good fortune of connecting with BARRETT and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi BARRETT, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
LOVE & LOSS… as cheeseball as this may sound, we are genuinely inspired by everything to do with LOVE. There’s this quote on one of my favorite tee shirts that says “all around the world we see people in love, with themselves and each other” Love and loss is what makes us cry, in movies and in real life and every great song or film is about either love or loss. Try to name one that’s not about those two things; you can’t. Pretty much every song we’ve ever written is about an experience we’ve had with (mostly) love, or loss… and we are so grateful to experience both, LOVE & LOSS.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well we started this music thing ‘when we were just pups’ as we always say with a smile… it was the 5th grade talent show and our pop helped us start our lil band. He grew us up on legendary rock n roll bands like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and The Doors etc. He taught us the charming 3 chord ‘Gloria’ and we played it for the whole school and did the talent show every year after that… we were obviously hooked. We graduated to playing at all the big fairs around town and what not and our following grew throughout high school which eventually led us to selling out pretty much every show throughout college and after. It was the most fun we ever had and we’ll never forget it.

Our roots will always be live, jamming, rock n’ roll with screeching guitar solos, rumbling bass, and rowdy drums and that is what makes our new ‘electric boogie, funk disco’ music a bit different than all the ‘classic’ house music that’s coming out today. ‘BARRETT’ has a live feel to it and we want to strive to make amazing music that will make you move but with our way of implementing rock n’ roll elements into it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would take them surfing in Malibu and right to sushi for lunch, bring some beers and guitars on the beach then head on over to Hinano’s for the best burger in town. We would then have everyone over at our place to hang before we hit a show somewhere in the city. The perfect Saturday baby

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We’d like to thank everyone who has stuck w us through all of the different musical projects that have led us to our now new funk disco endeavor ‘BARRETT’

We’ve played in bands for 10+ years now; ‘The Bash Dogs’ being the main one. We remember how many people supported us and sold out our shows in Los Angeles and Orange County. What a special time that was.

We LOVE music more than anything in the world… so as the years gracefully passed and we started getting older, we found ourselves playing in new projects like our good friend ‘Jules Duke’ and this blues rock band ‘American Hustler’

‘BARRETT’ is our baby; the passion proj we’d like to pursue the most so thank you to everyone who is giving it a chance!
