Meet Becky & Nathan Ben David | Co-Founders of Mannafest Media

We had the good fortune of connecting with Becky & Nathan Ben David and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Becky & Nathan, how do you define success?
Mannafest Media was founded at the start of the pandemic in March 2020, after Nathan Ben David (my husband) and I decided to take all of our years of collective “success” and create our own business model, one where we could pave our own successes moving forward.
That said, our definitions of success differ from one another — and we credit our differing vantage points on many things to our synergistic success.
Nathan views success as the ability to say no. “I think CHOICE is success!” To be able to make a living doing what he loves and to spend time with family, and not feel beholden to his job is the ultimate success. That’s where the ability to say no comes in, where he doesn’t HAVE TO do anything he chooses to. Freedom is success.
For me (Becky Tahel) success is impact. To be able to inspire even a single soul through our work is the ultimate success. We’ve had a handful of videos and a 10-part series that was released this past year, on top of an award-winning documentary. Every time I get an email, DM, or text that shares the impact our content has had on others’ lives & thought processes, I feel successful. For me, making a difference through mindful media is what it’s all about. (I also happen to be terrible at saying no, so I’m going to also take a page from Nathan’s book on success).

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Independently, Nathan and Becky Tahel (the one writing this, who is feeling slightly strange about writing in the third person) both developed quite a repertoire of resume line-items. Nathan worked as a social media strategist, content creator, graphics guru, photographer extraordinaire, brand developer, and creative director before we crossed paths co-creating a party in the Hollywood Hills. By that point, I (Becky) had been a celebrity executive assistant, nanny, event coordinator, production assistant, copywriter & ghostwriter, head of creative production, and the senior writer & producer at a global media company run by a viral influencer. We were equally eclectic, and equally ready to put aside the “work for everyone else” in exchange for the “work for ourselves”!
Together we built Mannafest Media from the ground up. We forged a new name for ourselves, created new relationships and developed new business during a pandemic, and became resourceful as can be in creating content from quarantine for global clients. It wasn’t easy, but it was challenging in the best ways and we grew as a result.
Today, we are eager to continue expanding ourselves as we expand others. Every job we take is an opportunity to help expand the minds (and mindful content) of the person/brand/company in front of us. It’s not rare that a client will comment on just how much they’ve learned from just a 30 minute intro call with us in terms of up-leveling their brand strategy and presence through the careful creation of next level content. We like hearing that 🙂

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re no trip advisor, but we’re big fans of:
-Lenny’s Casita (best mexican food ever, and it’s kosher!)
-Monty’s (dope, and vegan!)
-Mishe Mokwa & Corral Canyon Road (local hikes, and true gems)
-A drive up the PCH, because who doesn’t love a little water after a good food and a hike?!
LA really is such a dynamic (and huge) area. You can taste a little of everything here, literally and figuratively!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We owe our inspiration and success to God, ultimately. There have also been a handful of wonderful people along our paths, whom without we wouldn’t have had as much courage & chutzpah to keep rockin’ forth. They know who they are, family and friends, and we thank them deeply. Becky also credits “The Artists Way” for the much needed creative healing and inspiration she needed during a time of self-doubt and blocks, as well as Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Big Magic”, which very profoundly shares the magical nature of creativity and how potential ideas find host bodies (this is how much of our work feels, as though we have been chosen by some whimsical creative entity looking for someone to say “let’s do this”).
