We had the good fortune of connecting with Bella Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bella, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success to me is not the glamorous, movie-esque moment in life where everything comes to completion. Success is seeing the progress I’ve made from the beginning of my business to where I am now. Knowing what I used to be capable of compared to the present skill set that I have spurs me on to create more. As a creative, there’s no stopping point to creativity, only small steps towards a grander vision and a greater creative experience. Success is all of those victories, no matter how big or small they are. Success isn’t the end goal; for me, it is an ever present conditioning of improvement.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My specialty is capturing genuine smiles. I love to see the joy and happiness in my client’s face when I snap “the photo.” Everyone has been so gracious to let me know that they love taking photos with me and want to do it again. I really try my best to make a photography session as fun as possible, to relax my clients and let them know that I will bring out the best in them. Recently, I had a photoshoot with a client who was unhappy with how the camera captured them. They were not usually happy with their photos, so they were nervous to take photos with me. I was overjoyed to know by the end of the session (and with a few sneak peeks), they had an amazing time and they loved how I snapped a moment in time, truly capturing their truest self.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I could spend a whole day in Korea Town. From Madang Mall to the Wiltern, we would buy so much food and also experience a fun concert at the Wiltern. Another day or two could be spent in the Getty Museum and Villa. The artwork featured there is gorgeous and quite breathtaking. I, personally, love the Academy Museum, which is also right next to Urban Lights. The exhibits paired with a movie inspires me. Finally, a relaxing late breakfast at Muffin Can’t Stop Us is a wonderful way to ease into the end of a trip or long week of touring.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my mom for being such a great example to me. She’s so creative and can make anything look appealing and high-end. I grew up watching her create and it inspires me to create every day.
