We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Golburgh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ben, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
From an early age, I felt a profound calling to pursue a career in teaching, and this unwavering passion has shaped my entire life’s journey.

It all began by assisting individuals with Down Syndrome and dedicating my time to meaningful organizations like the Special Olympics and the Buddy Club at the Jewish Community Center. As I further immersed myself in the field, I also took on the role of a soccer coach with AYSO, nurturing my experience working with children.

Upon completing my education at the esteemed College of Education at Florida International University, I embarked on a fulfilling path as a classroom teacher, accumulating nearly 25 years of invaluable experience in both Miami, Florida, and Los Angeles, California. While I temporarily left the conventional classroom setting in 2012, my unwavering dedication to education continued to propel me forward.

In 2014, a fortunate turn of events led me to the realm of homeschooling, opening up an entirely new direction for me to explore.

Presently, I have the privilege of working with a diverse range of students, including those who are homeschooled as well as those attending full-time public or private schools. My role involves providing essential remedial support, offering enriching opportunities, and guiding students in honing the crucial skill of critical thinking.

Drawing upon my extensive experience and expertise, I am able to offer personalized support and guidance to both students and their families, with an unwavering commitment to helping each individual reach their fullest potential.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

As a part of my services, I collaborate with parents, students, and teachers to create a unique and personalized “Success Team”. Together, we’ll work to tackle any challenges that come your way, making the journey of self-education easy and painless for everyone involved.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area for a week, I’d want to ensure they experience the absolute best time. We’d kick off the trip with a fantastic dinner at a local gem, perhaps a trendy fusion restaurant that offers both unique flavors and a vibrant atmosphere (Perhaps Sushi, or Thai). The next morning, we’d start the day with a hearty breakfast at a cozy café known for its homemade pastries and artisanal coffee (Snug Harbor Diner, Santa Monica).

We’d explore the natural beauty of the region by taking a hike in a nearby national park, reveling in breathtaking vistas and serene trails (Topanga Canyon). For a change of pace, we’d spend an afternoon at a local art gallery, appreciating the creativity of talented artists from the area (The Melrose Art walk). As the sun sets, we’d head to a rooftop bar with a panoramic view of the city, enjoying cocktails and live music (Cantina, West Hollywood)

Midweek, we’d take a day trip to a charming coastal town, indulging in homemade Fudge or Taffy by the waterfront (Santa Barbara). We’d explore the local boutiques and soak in the coastal ambiance. To add some adventure, we’d do a little surfing in Malibu.

One evening, we’d attend a lively cultural event, like a music festival or a theater performance, immersing ourselves in the local arts scene (The Hollywood Bowl). Another day, we’d visit a historic site or museum to delve into the area’s rich heritage (The Getty and LACMA).

Towards the end of the week, we’d relax at a spa, rejuvenating ourselves with massages and soaking in hot springs. We’d have a farewell dinner at the trendy Farmers Market on 3rd Street and Fairfax, savoring locally sourced ingredients prepared with flair.

Throughout the week, I’d introduce my friend to some of the most interesting and exciting people I know in the area – from passionate local entrepreneurs to community leaders who are making a positive impact. We’d take part in yoga classes, join in a beach cleanup event, and even try our hand at a unique local craft workshop.

By the end of the week, my best friend would have experienced a perfect blend of nature, culture, adventure, relaxation, and the vibrant spirit of the local community. It would be a trip filled with unforgettable memories, and I’d hope they’d leave with a deep appreciation for the area and the wonderful people who call it home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dedication, resilience, and the unwavering pursuit of success are vital ingredients, but it’s crucial to recognize the remarkable individuals who have bolstered and championed my educational journey. First and foremost, my heartfelt gratitude goes to my parents and brothers. Jacqueline and Peter, my mom and dad, have consistently been a wellspring of encouragement, never stifling our aspirations, and consistently showing fervent support for our endeavors.

Acknowledgment is also due to several wonderful friends who have played pivotal roles in helping me realize my dream of teaching beyond the confines of the classroom. A special shoutout to Jennifer Rose and her family, proprietors of their own enterprise in sunny Miami, Florida, my dear friend Dianna Ippolito, an accomplished Screenwriter/Director based in Los Angeles, and my friend Mike Von Bampus, a local entrepreneur in Los Angeles, who operates Tropical Green Interiors Inc, a company dedicated to interior plant sales and maintenance. Their positive influence and invaluable business guidance have been instrumental.

It would be a grave oversight if I failed to acknowledge the outstanding Principal and Assistant Principal with whom I’ve had the privilege of working at my very first school. Mrs. Carolyn McCalla and Cynthia Flanagan not only significantly influenced but truly molded my path as an educator. They keenly identified my distinct abilities and generously granted me the autonomy to nurture them. Their unwavering care, backing, and motivation are the very reasons I find myself in the teaching profession today.

Lastly, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to all the parents and students who have graced my classes, displaying unwavering determination in their pursuit of goals. Your resilience and commitment inspire me daily.
