We had the good fortune of connecting with Benign Envy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Envy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue music ultimately because it is the thing I love most in this world and I’m thrilled I get to share it with everyone. I would do anything to spread my songs to people who relate. I also think it’s amazing that through music you can really make someone feel something and change for the better, and that’s what I aim to do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I like to describe my music as a blend of the fun enthusiastic nature of pop music and driving sounds of classic rock. I thrive on stage when I get to run around and perform the energetic music I’ve made. Mostly, what sets me apart is the music itself. I like to write songs that make you think, are detailed lyrically, but also keep you looking forward to what good things are to come. I really love to spread positivity while also touching on subjects that are hard in reality. There’s always something better and that’s what I hope comes across in my songs and performances.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles is such a creative place. There’s always some kind of live show to go to so I’d most likely bring them to one of the venues on Sunset to see a few bands play. Hopefully, one of mine would line up for when they’re in town so they can experience what my life is like. I would also take them through all the different neighborhoods so they can get a feel for the city (a couple per day). The beach is also very fun out here so I’d take them for a drive down the PCH. There’s so much to cover so I’d tell them to come back to get a new experience every time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to shout out my friends who have done nothing but support me and come to the shows with smiles on their faces. I can not believe how much love is there and it motivates me to keep going when things are tough. My best friend, Heather, has also been a really great leader in showing me the ropes of live shows and supporting me through it all. She’s definitely my second hand in all of it.
