We had the good fortune of connecting with Bernadette McKeever and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bernadette, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I coach because I believe self-awareness, curiosity, and deep listening can change not just individual lives—but the way we relate to each other as a society. In a world that often talks at each other rather than with each other, I want to help shift the conversation. Coaching is my way of contributing to a culture where people feel safe enough to be curious, brave enough to ask questions, and open enough to truly listen—because that’s where meaningful connection and transformation begin.

We live in a time where many are more focused on being heard than on hearing others. I believe that when we learn to pause, reflect, and connect with our values, we become more thoughtful in how we show up—for ourselves and the communities we’re part of. Through coaching, I help people uncover clarity, build confidence, and experience more joy and fulfillment. And when people feel more whole, maybe there’s a little less pain in the world. That’s why I do this work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I see coaching as creative work—every session is a co-creation where we explore, reframe, and design a life aligned with values, purpose, and possibility. It’s intuitive, dynamic, and human.

As a career coach, I stand out because my process doesn’t start with your resume—it starts with you. I take a holistic approach, helping you explore your mindset, values, strengths, and the gaps that may be holding you back. My clients are ready for a meaningful shift—one that aligns with who they truly are and the life they want to build. With empathy, presence, and honest support, I help you identify limiting beliefs, grow self-compassion, and take clear, aligned steps forward. This process creates real clarity, confidence, and lasting change.
Especially in today’s uncertain or tough job market, coaching with me isn’t a luxury— it’s a crucial foundation, and it’s more affordable than you may think. It’s the bridge between burnout and alignment. It’s how you shift from spiraling on job boards and uncertainty to confidently navigating what’s next.

This process with me is mainly focused on helping my clients shift their mindset, disprove old beliefs holding them back, opening up their minds to new ways of thinking and doing, and taking action in order to build confidence on their new path. Those shifts allow my clients to then apply their new deep understandings and new beliefs to the job market, new roles they desire, leadership, management, and deeply desired career changes. They are now able to build their résumé, network, apply, and transition into a career or role that finally feels aligned with their values and their ‘why’.

I’m not here to give quick fixes or generic advice—I help people bravely look at their lives, uncover what truly matters to them, and create a more intentional path forward that’s rooted in their values and truest self. My clients often say they feel deeply seen, gently challenged, and supported in ways that finally help them move forward.

What I’m most proud of is how I’ve built a business that reflects my own personal transformation. I’ve navigated big changes—heartbreak, career pivots, the letting go of old identities—and every step of the way, I’ve chosen to live more aligned with who I am now, not who I used to be. That’s the work I now help others do: create lives and careers that feel like a true reflection of themselves.

Getting here wasn’t easy. I spent years wrestling with self-doubt, perfectionism, and the pressure to follow a “safe” or expected path. I left a successful commercial photography career and had to rebuild from the inside out. The turning point came when I stopped trying to prove myself and started truly listening to my inner voice. I invested in my own growth, trusted my intuition, and followed the quiet pull toward coaching—even when it felt scary and uncertain.

The biggest lessons I’ve learned are these:
– Clarity doesn’t come all at once—it comes through action, reflection, and allowing.
– Fear doesn’t mean stop—it often just means something meaningful is waiting on the other side.
– We don’t have to do it alone—support, community, and deep inner work matter.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is this: I’m here for compassionate, heart-forward people who know they want something more—more meaning, more aliveness, more alignment—but aren’t sure how to get there. I believe in their ability to create a life that feels like theirs. My coaching isn’t about pushing harder or doing more—it’s about getting clear, acting with intention, and becoming who you were always meant to be. If this sounds like you, I’d love to meet! I offer Free First Clarity Sessions!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Salt Lake City, we’d start the day with coffee at Publik or The Rose Establishment—great vibes, great conversation. Then we’d head outside—either biking the Bonneville Shoreline, climbing in Little Cottonwood, or hiking somewhere peaceful with a view.

In the afternoon, we’d wander 9th & 9th or downtown, check out local shops, maybe a gallery or bookstore like Ken Sanders, and grab a nourishing lunch at Laziz Kitchen or Zest.

At night, we’d catch sunset at Red Butte or Antelope Island, then grab dinner at HSL and find live music at The State Room or Kilby Court. If we’re up for it, a little stargazing or a drive through Emigration Canyon would end the day perfectly—full of connection, beauty, and adventure.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
What I love most about the life coaching space is the spirit of community and support over competition. I’m proud to be part of a global network of coaches who believe in lifting others up, not guarding knowledge. It’s not about gatekeeping—it’s about helping as many people as we can access the tools for growth and healing. My shoutout goes to everyone doing this work with heart, integrity, and a commitment to collective transformation.
