Meet Beth Beacham | Owner & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Beth Beacham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Beth, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was working a 9-5 job when I had the idea to start my business. I realized that I had already spent a good portion of my youth slaving away for other companies. It didn’t really make much sense to me to work so hard to make someone else rich. It was when my father passed away when it all clicked into place that I didn’t want to waste anymore time. Around the same time I was also reading “Just Jump In: Even if You Don’t Know How to Swim” by my idol Mark Burnett. All these things combined was enough for me to just jump in and start my business. My thought process was that I didn’t think too much about. I just knew I wanted to build my own brand.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I started my YouTube channel and blog, it was at the beginning of when online media was just starting to gain traction and respect in the entertainment community. I fell in love with the city of Hollywood and wanted to share behind-the-scenes stories from the sets of game shows, and reality competition shows. My blog is where all of my written reports are found. The YouTube channel is where all of my interviews are posted. Now that I look back I do realize that it wasn’t easy. But, at the time when I was living it, it seemed easy. I overcame challenges by inserting my brand at places where I wasn’t invited. So, if I heard about a red carpet or a reality show taping, or open casting call, I would show-up there and ask if I could film and conduct interviews. Most of the time because everything was still new and not many people were reporting for online visibility, the answer was always “yes.” I’ve also learned that while conducting business, anything that can happen usually does. So, I’m always prepared for a plan B. I have had to be really versatile and a good problem-solver. These challenges have included: a host now showing-up to conduct an interview (it’s happened twice); the microphone malfunctions; the camera malfunctions, and so on. I carry two of everything in my camera bag.
The lessons that I have learned are to be super grateful, seize opportunities, and my priorities have also changed over time when looking at who I’m collaborating with. What I want people to know about Hollywood Junket is that it’s devoted to the fans of game shows and reality competition shows. I started it as a fan myself before it ever was “Hollywood Junket.” I was sitting in the audience at the taping of “America’s Got Talent” back when the judges were Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, Brandy and David Hasselhoff. Sharon had gotten really upset over a comment that Piers made to a young contestant. She had, had enough and ripped-up her cards she had in front of her, threw them at Piers, and stormed off the set. I wrote about what had happened in an email that I sent as a scoop to an entertainment reporter who ended-up publishing the story. Soon after that, I started Hollywood Junket and went on to report exclusive news from the sets of “America’s Got Talent,” “The Voice”, “The Masked Singer,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” and many other new games shows before they aired. It was a ripple effect because by doing so, I attracted the attention from these shows who contacted me to formerly invite me to their sets to conduct interviews with the talent. Which I still do today. Though most interviews occur on Zoom.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Absolutely must hit up the Hollywood Walk of Fame first! Then the Hollywood sign. Then to the taping of a show. Either “The Voice,” “Celebrity Family Feud” or “The Masked Singer.” Next, the Century City Mall, and the Beverly Center in one day. Another day would be a drive down the PCH, and a visit to the Santa Monica pier. Another drive through Mulholland Drive, and my neighborhood of Whitley Heights and stop by the restaurants on Franklin Ave. to eat at the Sushi Stop and Birds. I love the whole vibe in that area and it’s where I remember going to with friends when I first moved to L.A. I would also show them Silver Lake which is also very cool and unique from Hollywood. I would finish the week by taking them to the Magic Castle.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It would have to be the story about Mark Burnett of how he came to this country and started-out selling T-Shirts on Venice Beach. He went from that to being a successful TV producer who single-handedly changed television forever by introducing reality competition shows. His book “Jump In! Even if You Don’t Know How to Swim” was extremely inspirational and motivated me to quit my job and start building my business.
