We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Camara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bianca, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was intrigued to start my own business at the end of 2020 due to an interest in entrepreneurship + taking a chance on myself. I had the idea to create my own natural/vegan lip cosmetic company + spent numerous hours on research + studying formulas. We launched successfully on March 1st of 2020.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My professional background comes from event planning + working with small businesses within my own community, so when I started Lips By BB Cosmetics I quickly realized how much my professional job was training me for my own entrepreneurial journey.

Our journey so far has been amazing, definitely a handful of lessons learned but we’re enjoying the ride. Our biggest lessons so far are to not rush any processes + to not compare ourselves to other brands.

At LBB we focus on the overall health of lips through natural + cruelty free lip cosmetic products. We specialize in lip gloss, liquid matte lipsticks, lip plumpers & more! We take pride in our hand mixed products, and the extensive research into our ingredients. We’ve personally tried many popular lip care brands, but had very few products that we actually vouched for. That’s what motivated us to create our own line.

We’re HUGE on inclusivity, diversity and community. A creative cosmetic brand that’s growing and eager to succeed in the ever growing beauty industry!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Say less! First, I would show them around my hometown – Fresno, Ca. We’d visit some local events like ArtHop/FresYes Fest, hop on the downtown Fresno ale trail, eat at many different eateries (Heirloom, Phad Thai, Libelula, Dolls Kitchen) + make sure we squeeze in a trip to Yosemite National Park.

Then we’d make our way to the Bay Area (SF/Oakland) to site see, eat our way through Chinatown + visit some amazing art museums like SFMOMA + De Young.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to a few people, because without them Lips By BB would probably not exist.

1. My partner – Without him there would be no such thing as Lips By BB Cosmetics. From the constant support, packing orders + brainstorming new ideas – unmatched.

2. My Supporters – The love is REAL! For the past 2.5 years they’ve grown with me + I am forever grateful to have gained such an amazing community that I call family.

3. Keesha Clark, CEO of Born Noir for recommending me to tell my story. Thank you, Keesha!
