We had the good fortune of connecting with BJ Iwuoha and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi BJ, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
For me, I would like to be known as one of the most creative, and entertaining Actors the world has ever seen. I would like to be in the ranks of Denzel Washington,Leonardo DiCaprio,Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson,and Ryan Reynolds just to name a few. The goal is to do this until God closes my eyes. When you do what you love,it never really seems like work.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I got into acting and modeling during the pandemic. Acting was always something that I was extremely interested in ever since I was a kid,and I never really pursued it the way that I really wanted to. I took classes in high school and through college,and even performed in a couple plays,but never pursued any work outside of school. I think once the pandemic hit,I kind of opened my mind to finally try something new. Something that I had never done before,and that was to start auditioning for acting roles. I went onto Backstage and started auditioning. It was awesome! I felt alive! I landed a couple small gigs and I was pretty excited about it! My BIGGEST break thus far was landing a role in a SAG-AFTRA Feature Film (Gift of Fear) which is currently in post production. I believe that was only the beginning for me and there is much more to come in my acting career. It wasn’t always easy, auditioning for so many things and sometimes not getting a call back or even a response, but you just have to keep pushing! It’s easy to quit because you don’t see what’s happening behind the scenes, but once you get that call back saying that “They would like to work with you!” It’s an amazing feeling. This business has taught me to just keep going. You can’t quit! Especially if you love it. Greater things are just over the horizon if you just keep on going! The roles will come! The opportunities will come! But you will only see them if you keep moving forward! I want the world to know that I’m human like everyone else, with likes, dislikes, family, friends, etc. If you see me now, it’s only because I decided to step out on faith and just go for my dreams!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend to San Francisco to check out the area over there. As far as food goes, me being a foodie, I would take them to some my favorite food spots. Blue Saigon, Fire Wings, Hot Boys, etc. Some of the greatest places to hang out at are just at home with family,friends, with good music, good food and good drinks! You don’t really need anything more!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to personally thank my family and my close friends. They have supported me in my dreams and what I’m striving for 100%. Even if they didn’t necessarily understand, they always wanted to see me happy doing what I had chosen to do, so I thank them for their support.
