We had the good fortune of connecting with bo lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi bo, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I don’t believe in “balance” as things are in a rhythm and the seasons are always changing.
it’s death to: work – life balance
and it’s: mind – body balance and work – life integration.
Investing in things that give me time freedom is my mantra.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Embodying a mindset of prioritizing my health is the best business move I’ve made. And that blossomed from experiencing a rough burn out in 2016.
Many times we get trapped under the trance of “there’s never enough time” and habitual patterns that keep us playing small and feeling tense. We’re living in a world of trade offs so I always want to create an environment where I have the agency to design these trade offs. I created Designkinds to provide the eco system of accountability to turn your priorities into projects. I have a career path that’s windy, like many of us so I know the frustrations and struggles that come through at each level. I’m constantly challenged and fulfilled with the art of being a hyphen.
On a mission to give agency and autonomy for creatives through interactive strategy sprints and running a curated community for multidisciplinary leaders, makers and thinkers to converse on design, entrepreneurship, business pivots, psychedelics and gut health. This is all about empowering our digital-spiritual hybrid model futures.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
roof top sunset, good meal and great conversation is my go to. I love Perch for their roof views, the hospitality there is fantastic and I’ve never been disappointed with the food.
Other go to’s: solid deep tissue massage, pre pandemic activities – live music, broad museum, a flea market, hit a bar with the best tequila, find the best sushi in town, scenic places to go shoot with our cameras, etc
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Friends and family who give me space and support my growth even when they don’t understand it. Ageless Body, Timeless Mind by Deepak Chopra was so important for me on my health journey.
Meditations by Tara Brach teaches me presence and to keep doing the work of coming home to myself.
All my creative partners, teams, peers who’ve inspired me with their existence, words, works, presence and energy.
