We had the good fortune of connecting with Bobbi Rockett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bobbi, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Making others happy has always been at the core of who I am since I was a child. I remember a time when I was like 5, my older brother was having a playdate, and his friend fell and scraped his knee. I disappeared instantaneously and returned with a pink hello kitty bandaid that I scavenged from the bottom of my bathroom drawer. My entire life, it has been my nature to heal the world around me. Whenever I saw pain, loss, or devastation, I felt a deep resonance with whatever entity I was empathizing with, followed by an even stronger wave of hope that drove me to seek out the answers. How do I fix this? How do I make it better? What can I do? When I was 6, I watched a movie in which pigs were being slaughtered for their meat. I couldn’t shake the sound of their squeals as they watched their family and friends murdered, awaiting their own demise. I was bawling in my mothers’ arms for days, terribly distraught by the awakening that there do exist forces that destruct and cause pain without remorse or a second thought. My mother suggested I raise money to donate to a cause that supports wildlife, so we spent the next week making and selling greeting cards around the neighborhood, ultimately raising around $300 for Wildlife Conservation Society. I was born with a calling, a desire to heal the world, and I was raised to do something about it.

Of course, this high sensitivity to the feelings of others comes with many lessons; setting energetic and even physical boundaries to protect myself from over-extending my time, energy, and space to another has been a challenge that I still grow through today. I can’t save everyone and certainly not if they don’t want to be saved. Each of us humans are on our own journey towards happiness, and life is about encountering and meeting the contrast in our experience– conflict, disconnect, friction, discomfort– with grace, patience, and curiosity. It makes me happy to fall down and discover the strength I have had all along to pick myself back up. It makes me happy to show others that this power exists within themselves too.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The creativity comes by nature. The work is in allowing it to pass through without getting in the way. Also learning the technical skills it takes to transmute that creative energy into an outlet in which it can express itself to the world and demonstrate lessons, healing, growth, and if nothing else, a reflection of the pure human experience. Art does not need to be shared to be valuable, however, in my case and many others’, I feel a strong desire– a necessity, actually– to broadcast my voice to the world. What the world needs, now more than ever, is to love and accept one another’s individuality, and I am a mere vessel for this message & more to reach the world. It’s what I am here to do. So, with this purpose as my foundation, I build what I can to be seen by the world, so they too can feel for others as I do, with love.

One must empathize with themselves, internally, before they can project that love onto anything in their external environment. This is why even music that carries “negative” sentiments, ones of sadness or confusion, anxiety and loss, are just as important for the masses. This gives the gift of relatability, an awakening that you are not alone in your experience at all; the artist, and their fanbase can relate, and that is such a freeing feeling. Once you accept the darkness for what it is, you can exhale it, release it, and welcome new, fresh, positive, loving energy into the space you have opened up. THIS is the healing power of creation. This is what I dedicate my life to.

Mindbobbispirit is this power in action. Mindbobbispirit mobilizes love in the forms of community, collaboration, connection, and creativity. Our art holds power beyond our wildest beliefs, and mindbobbispirit empowers artists to continue following the passion that won’t stop knocking on the door asking to be expressed and shared with the world. This is dreams fulfilled. The success is the process; the journey itself is the reward. This life is what we get; what we make of it is up to us. At the end of the day, what are we waiting for to finally feel good? The paycheck at the end of the month? Your birthday? that you eventually realize is just another day that was not worth hyping up so much because at the end of the day, whatever distractions you used to fulfill the emptiness deep down, will be gone? Each person will take the route and the time they must to reach these realizations, but I hope that mindbobbispirit aids in freeing people from these limiting beliefs about themselves and their lives as soon as possible, so they can live however much life they have left with freedom, fulfillment, bliss, and a continuous desire to wake up and do it again.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, I be workin so damn hard I don’t go out unless it’s to the studio, music events, to support a friend, or go to be with nature. Sooo in terms of recommendations: GreenTeaStudios, & Beach. any beach. or hill. very pretty. love LA.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank the entire Green Tea Studios community as well as their founder, Barry Rosenblum, who has become a close friend and mentor. This whole community is about uplifting and empowering artists to be a knowledgable agent in their own career and find success as it is defined by you. Barry has been there for me with encouragement and advice, whenever I need it, on how to be the best person and artist I can be, and for that I am incredibly grateful. It takes an army, and Green Tea propels us artists in LA into each others arms to collaborate, and grow as a family, pushing each other to be our best not out of jealousy or competition, but the pure desire to make art that impacts the world positively. I thank the universe for placing this community in my life, initially through social media, making me feel immediately at home upon my arrival in LA. I look forward to continuing to put in the hard work and be inspired by the dedicated artists around me.
