We had the good fortune of connecting with Bradley Baumkirchner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bradley, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking? If it’s worth doing, it worth risking everything. I have always functioned this way, I throw myself 1000% into anything I do, otherwise I don’t see a reason for doing it. Do you? This of course has it’s consequences obviously, like some other matters get ignored by necessity. But again, that is perhaps the price of excellence. Without a doubt there is always an expense to excellence, yet the reward is priceless.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of the challenges in art making, is what and how are you going to say what you what to say. Meaning, landing on creating art that you are satisfied with, regardless of the material ect. I am ever exploring and am open to creating and utilizing all and any mediums. However, one of my current composition that I have been working within I am very happy with. They are floral pieces boarded by words. It’s great because it blends those two ideas I mentioned prior, Beauty and Truth. Words or Logos as they name it in Philosophy plays a central role, so it’s a prefect way for me to work within. Any artist is truly happy when this occurs, weather it be film, painting or whatever. It took some time to develop and it’s ever evolving. But this composition I have come up with I’m very happy with and it’s totally my creation. There are few things this satisfying because it’s a genuine birthing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I mean this is loaded question. Of course they are a myraid “things” that have played a major role in my life, just as with everyone else. But without any doubt my Teacher, the late Pierre Grimes, Plato, Socrates and all Wisdom Traditions. I’m a philosopher at heart really, everything else is secondary. I relish in all things beautiful and excellent, this encapsulates all thngs; film, dance, architecture, bikes, flowers, sunsets and dialogue. Beauty and Truth are great to explore aren’t they? Then you mix in creativity and you have quite a stew cooking.
