We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Holden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
The way I know whether or not to give up is by evaluating the situation for what it truly is. I ask myself, “Is it really as bad as it seems, or is this just a learning situation?” Most things in life fall into that second category—opportunities to learn and grow. That’s why I honestly just never give up.

I keep God first in everything I do, and I live by faith. When I wake up each day, I remind myself, “It’s a great day to be great,” and “Breathing is achieving.” These slogans aren’t just words; they’re motivation for myself and many others. They help me focus on the blessing of life itself.

It all started with “ABCDEWAI: A Blessing Coming Don’t Even Worry About It.” This phrase reminds me that as long as I’m alive, I have a reason to keep going. God has a purpose for each of us, and being alive is proof that my journey isn’t over. No matter how tough things get, I hold on to my faith, knowing that God has a plan, and I press forward.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create positive, uplifting, realistic music without cursing. I probably am most proud of my resilience; the way I truly don’t allow myself to quit. The way I got to where I’m at today is the same; resilience and never giving up believing that there is always light at the end of every tunnel. Nothing in life worth having is easy so it hasnt been easy by along shot. When i started going through depression; i drank alot; made it through that with God and faith, you have to want it I always say. I’ve learned that resilience and perspective can make it through. I want the world to know that positive vibes and good energy can take you everywhere you need to go and with faith.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I like to go to liemert park on sundays, To be honest i dont really do anything regularly, i like the beach, i am open to just about anything that sounds interesting.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people who have helped me along the way the most recent person ill have to name is Brian Rock; of DoGood Intl he helped me when i was down almost homeless. Gave me a place to stay and set up my studio and introduced me to some people who are still great friends today and we do work together in Skid Row. Outreach and more
