We had the good fortune of connecting with Brendan Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brendan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
To never be afraid to ask for what you or your clients want. I have always operated my life and my business with the mentality that “you don’t get what you don’t ask for,” and it’s such a simple concept that often gets lost in the fray of everything else. So much of my success and what I have been able to do for my clients is simply reaching out, whether it’s via an email or DM, or a simple phone call. I don’t care who it is, what it is for; there’s no fear there. The worst that happens is you are in the same position you were before and they say no. Or, they say yes, and you get what you were truly after.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has been interesting in that since I was 18 it always included real estate, but as time went on it grew to involve many other facets. I started my career in Orange County, where I renovated and designED investment properties, and opened my own brokerage in Newport Beach at 23. I spent the following years growing my brokerage and media projects, which lead me to spend vast amounts of time in NYC and abroad. I relocated to New York City full-time in 2018, where I signed with Douglas Elliman and Knight Frank. I returned to California in 2021, where Westside Estate Agency was the only brokerage in which I wanted resume my career in California, but most importantly, my expansion into Los Angeles, Malibu, and Miami.
My involvement in the fields of real estate, fashion, media, and publishing have given me a unique vantage point in which I am able to utilize that experience to get the best for my clients. Not simply just the right deals and properties, but in the ways that they are marketed and presented, and in the access they have and the way in which I connect people. Having worked with many high-net-worth individuals, CEO’s of technology and Fortune 500 companies, and endless entrepreneurs; I pride myself on anticipating needs, being available 24/7 in any location, and solving those needs quickly.
I have held a personal contributor platform for the Huffington Post for four years, and have written for GQ, HYPEBEAST, Mr. Porter, and Men’s Fashion Post amongst others. I’ve collaborated with many fashion and lifestyle brands, in addition to publications, and was named one of New York City’s Men About Town by Page Six.
As an avid world traveler, I traveled to over 33 countries before he turned 30. I am one of four Founding Members and Chairs of the Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation’s Young Professionals Committee. I also a chair for New York’s iconic Gabrielle’s Angel Ball each fall. Brendan has been actively involved with the AIDS WALK Foundation in LA and NYC, The Central Park Conservancy, God’s Love We Deliver, and the Hoag Hospital Foundation for over the past decade. The philanthropic endeavor closest to my heart is the work I do with the African Lion Conservation Foundation in South Africa. I have returned to South Africa to volunteer hands-on with the wild lions each year since 2012.
Things that set me apart are definitely my media and fashion experience, but also my philanthropic endeavors. I would say I am most proud of founding the foundation. Was it easy? No, rebuilding a career in a new market mid-pandemic is never easy but I have learned a tremendous amount. I’ve learned first and foremost you must trust yourself, and those who you work with. Go with your gut.
What I would want the world to know about myself and my brand is that I never stop. I’ll never stop asking for what myself and my clients need, I will always go above and beyond, and my integrity is paramount.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is LA, so there is so much exciting things to do. I am big hotel man, despite being an agent I have lived at both Chateau Marmont and Sunset Tower Hotel. So they would be staying and hanging out there. I love a great late dinner in the garden at Chateau, and Tower Bar at Sunset Tower never disappoints.

My family, and the entire team at Westside Estate Agency for providing the best home and support for myself and my clients. My friends, including my oldest friend Ariana Gaffoglio who has also been in real estate since she was 18, and has acted in every way she can to mentor and support me professionally which was been invaluable.
