Meet Brian Fitzpatrick | Screenwriter & Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Fitzpatrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brian, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor in my success, above all else, is perseverance. As a screenwriter and novelist, my path is full of rejection, obstacles, self-doubt, and frustrations. Hope and perseverance get me through it all and bring me the victories that further my career. When I’ve thought about giving up, I’ve learned to take a moment, regroup, then get back in the game. Perseverance is the key to all of it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a produced screenwriter and bestselling novelist. My science fiction novel series, MECHCRAFT, has reached Amazon’s #1 bestseller rank multiple times. I co-wrote a science fiction feature, THE SIMIAN TRIALS, with Gina Nemo that was filmed and is currently in post-production. I’ve had 3 short stories published and obtained screenwriting gig work as well. I thrive doing both screenwriting and writing fiction. My current work in progress is a fantasy adventure novel set in an upcoming Dungeons & Dragons campaign. I’m most proud of my MECHCRAFT franchise. This IP is not only a novel trilogy, but also a screenplay, a side character short story, and later in 2024 MECHCRAFT will be a tabletop role-playing game. I’m also in the early stages of seeking an artist to create a comic book for MECHCRAFT.
The challenges were many, but the answer always boiled down to perseverance.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I’m always open for work. Whether it’s a script, a book, a comic book, web content, etc. I’m a professional writer who plays nice with others, puts the client needs first, and eats deadlines for breakfast.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love southern California and the LA area. I’d definitely take them to coast. Redondo Beach pier. Santa Monica. Then to iconic local music venues for a show- The Roxy, The Whiskey. Then later over to Sky Bar for drinks. And absolutely make time for a visit to Book Soup to check out the novels.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many wonderful people have contributed to my success. My mother encouraged me to begin writing stories at age 7. As an adult I’m part of a close unit of writing friends who lift each other up and provide honest feedback to each other’s work. I also want to give a shout out to Ana Benitez, co-CEO of Storyrocket, for believing in me and lifting me up. And a shout out to actress, singer, producer, Gina Nemo. Gina gave me my first shot at a paid screenwriting job. We’ve worked together twice now and I look forward to doing it again in the future.
