Meet Brian Goddard | Audio Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Goddard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, what do you attribute your success to?
The most critical factor behind my success as an audio engineer, and the success of my brand, is a combination of technical proficiency, a relentless pursuit of sonic excellence, and a deep understanding of my clients’ needs. Being able to consistently deliver high-quality audio productions is fundamental. This involves staying current with the latest industry trends, technologies, and techniques.
Moreover, building strong and lasting relationships with clients has been instrumental. Communication is key in the audio engineering field, ensuring that I understand their artistic vision and can translate that into a polished and impactful sound. Collaborating effectively and adapting to diverse musical genres or project requirements has allowed me to create a broad portfolio and cater to a wide range of clients.
Another crucial aspect is maintaining a commitment to professionalism and reliability. Meeting deadlines, being adaptable to changes, and having a strong work ethic are paramount. Clients appreciate not only technical skill but also someone they can trust with their creative vision.
Lastly, a continuous dedication to learning and improvement has played a significant role. The audio engineering landscape evolves rapidly, and staying ahead requires a commitment to ongoing education, whether it’s mastering new software, refining mixing/mastering techniques, or exploring innovative sound design concepts.
In summary, the success of my brand is rooted in technical proficiency, effective communication, professionalism, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning in the ever-evolving field of audio engineering.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Thank you for the opportunity to share more about my art. What sets my work apart is a blend of recording mixing and Dolby Atmos that I’ve developed over the years. I’m particularly proud of doing the Dolby Atmos mix for Busta Rhymes new album Blockbusta As it truly represents my artistic vision and the evolution of my craft.
The journey to where I am today professionally has been both challenging and rewarding. It certainly wasn’t easy, but the obstacles I faced became opportunities for growth. One of the major challenges was when I got certified in Dolby Atmos/Immersive Audio last year in December by Engineears. To overcome these hurdles, I remained persistent, constantly seeking improvement, and learning from each experience.
One key lesson I’ve learned is the importance of resilience. The creative path is often filled with setbacks, but each setback is a chance to learn and refine my approach. Surrounding myself with a supportive community of fellow artists has also been crucial. Sharing insights, constructive feedback, and celebrating each other’s successes has created a positive and inspiring environment.
In essence, my journey is a testament to the belief that dedication, continuous learning, and a genuine passion for the craft can lead to meaningful and impactful art. I’m excited about the future possibilities and the opportunity to continue evolving as an artist and entrepreneur.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spot is DTLA because It’s changing so fast that I can see it turning into a small version of Manhattan. The new spot to check out is Level 8 at the mooxy because It’s like a one-stop shop for everything you need.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely, there are several individuals and resources that have been instrumental in my journey, and I’d like to give them a well-deserved shoutout. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to Harry Meyers & Stan Greene. Their mentorship and guidance have been invaluable, providing me with insights that have significantly shaped my approach to audio engineering. Their experience and willingness to share their knowledge have been pivotal in my growth.
Lastly, none of this would be possible without the unwavering support of my family and friends. Their encouragement, understanding, and belief in my passion have been my pillars of strength.
