Meet Brian Lewey | Director of Operations – Independent Porsche Repair

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Lewey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brian, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I view risk as an unavoidable part of both business and personal growth. If you’re unwilling to take risks, you’re often unwilling to pursue opportunities that can create meaningful progress. That doesn’t mean taking unnecessary chances—it means evaluating the potential rewards, understanding the possible downsides, and making informed decisions. Throughout my career, some of the biggest advancements have come from stepping outside my comfort zone and embracing calculated risks that had the potential to create long-term value.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Success in business has never come easily, and I believe that’s what makes it meaningful. What has set me apart throughout my career is a strong work ethic, a commitment to continuous growth, and a genuine desire to help others. From the beginning, I set a goal for myself to continually improve, take on greater responsibility, and grow into leadership roles wherever I worked. I have always believed that success is earned through dedication, consistency, and a willingness to learn.

One of the accomplishments I am most proud of is the reputation I have built over more than 35 years in the automotive industry. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to develop long-lasting relationships with customers who have continued to trust me, follow me from business to business, and refer their friends and family. To me, that loyalty is one of the greatest measures of success because it reflects the trust that has been built over time.

I got to where I am today by leading with honesty, integrity, and a sincere desire to do what is right for both customers and colleagues. Those principles have guided every decision I have made and have helped me navigate the many challenges that come with a long career. Like any industry, automotive has experienced economic ups and downs, changing business environments, and a wide variety of leadership styles. There have been difficult periods, but I learned that perseverance is often the difference between success and failure. Sometimes the answer is simply to keep moving forward, adapt to the circumstances, and remain focused on your goals.

One of the most important lessons I have learned is that every challenge presents an opportunity to learn and grow. Every obstacle, setback, and success becomes part of your story and helps shape the person and professional you become. The ability to adapt, remain resilient, and continue learning has been invaluable throughout my journey.

If there is one thing I would want people to know about me, it is that I strive to be a hardworking, ethical person who genuinely cares about helping others succeed. Whether working with customers, employees, or business partners, my goal has always been to leave things better than I found them. I believe that when you consistently do the right thing, treat people with respect, and remain committed to excellence, success will follow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I would give them a taste of everything that makes Southern California special. The itinerary would revolve around great food, beautiful coastal scenery, and of course, cars.

We would start by exploring Orange County’s coastline, spending time in Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, and Huntington Beach. There is something special about the combination of ocean views, laid-back culture, and year-round sunshine that makes this area one of my favorite places in the world. We’d spend our mornings walking the shoreline, enjoying the scenery, and taking in the Southern California lifestyle.

Food would be a major part of the trip. Southern California offers an incredible variety of restaurants, from casual beachfront dining to upscale culinary experiences. I’d make sure we experienced everything from fresh seafood along the coast to some of the hidden local favorites that make Orange County such a great place to eat.

As a lifelong automotive enthusiast, no visit would be complete without experiencing Southern California’s car culture. We’d attend local car shows and automotive events whenever possible. The area is home to some of the most impressive collections of classic, exotic, and performance vehicles in the country, and there is always something happening for people who appreciate automobiles.

Throughout the week, we’d mix in visits to local attractions, scenic drives along the coast, and plenty of opportunities to simply relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Some of my favorite memories are made when there isn’t a strict agenda—just good conversation, great food, beautiful surroundings, and interesting people.

What I love most about this area is the diversity of experiences available within a short drive. Whether you’re looking for world-class dining, stunning beaches, outdoor activities, or an incredible automotive community, Southern California offers something for everyone. It’s a place where you can create unforgettable experiences while enjoying some of the best weather and scenery anywhere in the country.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If I were to dedicate a shoutout to anyone, it would unquestionably be my father. The values he instilled in me from an early age have shaped both my personal life and my career. He always pushed me to strive for more, not out of pressure, but because he believed I was capable of achieving great things.

Some of his favorite sayings were, “Do good and be good,” “Never let anything get in the way of your dreams,” and “Work hard, and you will see the fruits of your labor.” Those weren’t just words—they became guiding principles that I still carry with me every day.

Looking back, many of the opportunities I’ve been fortunate enough to achieve can be traced back to the work ethic, integrity, perseverance, and sense of purpose that he taught me. Success is rarely a solo journey, and I owe a tremendous amount of mine to the foundation he helped build. For that, I will always be grateful.
