We had the good fortune of connecting with Briana Cash and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Briana, what do you attribute your success to?
Hard Work. One of the most important factors behind my success is my name BRIANA CASH®. It’s my brand and trademark.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work in the entertainment industry, mainly in music. I stay pretty busy because I’m involved with many organizations and many projects as a musician, singer-songwriter, producer and sometimes as a music supervisor. I have new music coming out later this month.

I had the honor of singing on Barbara Morrison’s final album, “Blues Mama” Barbara Morrison and The Legacy Blues Traditional Album. She was a legend! Many talented musicians were a part of this wonderful project. FYC Grammy consideration. www.fycbarbaramorrison.com

One major thing that has unfortunately taken up WAY too much of my time and has impacted my career and life is a legal battle that I have been involved in for years now. Interscope records signed an artist with my name, except it is not her name, it’s my legal birth and trademarked name. My attorneys sent them cease and desist letters, after being ignored for months they finally acknowledged they received them and agreed to stop using my name and infringing. However, they did not stop. I ultimately had to file a lawsuit against them last year. They have since dropped that artist but are counter suing me for my name anyway, just because they can.  Click on this change petition link that was started to support me in this David v. Goliath battle against the major record label.

OPPOSE, Interscope Records.

I won’t give up. I am relentless. I am proud that I am a strong woman. I have had to learn to stick up for myself A LOT, especially in this industry. People can be tough and life can be very challenging at times. You definitely have to choose your battles but going through what life deals you, it prepares you for the next challenge. I have learned that people and opportunities come and go, however everything happens for a reason. We may not always understand why, but with everything that comes we are always learning from it. It’s life, try not to take it too seriously, I guess. “It’s only life after all” like the Indigo Girls say.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?I often go between the west coast and east coast, it depends on which city my friend is visiting. If in the Los Angeles area. I would take them to some amazing spots in Beverly Hills. Urth Caffe on Melrose or Formosa in West Hollywood. Griffith Park is a must and driving down Laurel Canyon and Mulholland Drive. Hiking at Runyon is a must. Hollywood Roosevelt is a great place to stay, have lunch and catch some magic shows at The Magic Castle.

If you want to laugh and enjoy sketch comedy, Groundlings is the place! I recommend the Malibu Racquet Club if you want to play some tennis with amazing views. The SoHo House in both West Hollywood and Malibu. Brunch at the Chateau Marmont. Walking around Manhattan Beach is lovely. Pet a sea cucumber for good luck at the aquarium on the pier.

If you want some fresh tacos overlooking the ocean in Ventura, Beach House Tacos is great! Also, I really love to take a few days and relax in Ojai or Catalina Island. Those are some great spots in the greater Los Angeles area…

If friends were to visit me in the Boston area, I would take them to the North Shore beaches. Ipswich – Cape Ann, Plum Island, Newburyport, Salisbury Beach Reserve, Salem, MA Witch Museum, The Hawthorn for lunch or dinner. There are some great stores all over Salem. Some others – must see towns, Gloucester, Rockport, Boston – Red Sox game at Fenway Pahk and see a show at the Gahden.

Keep heading north up to New Hampshire then York, Maine, The Marginal Way in Ogunquit, Maine there are great theaters and a piano bar that’s pretty fun at night. Also love the shops in Kennebunkport, Maine. Just a few places… 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I wanna give a shout out to my mom, Mama Cash! She has definitely molded me into the person I am today and has taught me so much. She’s my biggest supporter and my rock.

I also want to thank all the people who have taught me lessons along the way. Whether they have been my actual teachers from school or teachers in the sense that I have learned lessons from them in this life.  Remember when something is awesome or miserable, it’s only temporary so appreciate it for what it is. It’s all about the journey. 🙂
