We had the good fortune of connecting with Briana Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Briana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was that I am simply over-interviewing for the job, I am going to create it. I love to be a part of almost every creative process within a business. From creative direction, branding design, and website design, to photoshoots to help with visually communicating the brand. I wanted to land a job working with big brands in New York or LA, but I wasn’t quite ready to move to those places yet. I wanted to be able to work from anywhere. Now, I work from anywhere along with working with clients from all over the US.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am most proud of my growth! I didn’t have a mentor on how to start, run a marketing agency, or even how to do some of the services that I offer. I am a self-taught designer and business owner. I am proud of myself for graduating from college with my BFA in Fashion Marketing which sets me apart from others because of the knowledge that I gained from my college experience. I got to where I am today by simply doing it, going after exactly what I want, and making shifts if needed, even when it feels scary to do so. I don’t feel it was easy to get to where I am today since I had to learn on my own outside of college. I overcame my challenges by engaging with others, accepting all feedback / criticism, observing, taking leaps of faith, and researching. Some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way are to jump even when it feels scary because you never know what awaits. Every single time I’ve done that it was always something greater in return. Was it easy? Absolutely not! But after I went through the trials of it, it was greater.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d definitely go to Nolia, downtown Cincinnati for some amazing tasty southern flavors and drinks. All the food is good there, I’ve never been disappointed yet. I am obsessed with Mexican food so we’d hit a few of my favorite Mexican places such as Pata Roja & La Cantina for delicious tacos and guacamole. We’d have to do a little commute for shopping and visit Columbus for shopping (I love Zara!, this is the only one nearby). Hang-out-wise, we’d definitely hit some rooftops. I love rooftops with good drinks and music, it’s always a vibe. I can’t forget Nostalgia! I’ve only been a few times but I absolutely love it, woman-owned, beautifully decorated, the music is great, the entire concept of the business is amazing, and the wines are amazing as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my 2-year-old son, Amir. He is the fuel behind everything that I do. His birth is the reason I am greater than I truly ever was before him. He is not the easiest person to work from home with lol but he has shifted my entire being to another level. I have accomplished so much mentally, physically, and spiritually since my son.
